Museums

The Montana Historical Society, located near the State Capitol, is a museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history and culture of Montana. The museum features a variety of exhibits and galleries showcasing native artifacts, Charles M. Russell's art, as well as collections detailing Lewis and Clark's interactions with Montana. Established in 1865, it is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the West and houses vast historic collections including artifacts, photographs, and documents exhibited in six galleries.

what a great museum with tons of Montana history. The CM Russell artwork display is worth goin to see in itself! this is a must do while in Helena

Chris Bauer — Google review

It was so much fun! Lots of cool artifacts and history! The trolley ride was also super fun and had great stories! We loved our experience here!

Visited Apr 13, 2021. As expected, the museum was informative and very interesting. A very good visit.

BETSY TX — Google review

This is a must-stop for visitors to Helena, and locals should check in regularly, too. I used to love going in here as a kid and the museum helped spark a lifelong passion for art and history. So... Take your kids! As an adult, I appreciate the wonderfully diverse exhibits on a deeper level. So... Take yourself, grownups!

Mike Hahn — Google review

Got there about an hour before closing and the gentleman at the entrance desk was kind enough to let us take a quick tour of the museum and gallery with no entrance fee. Was great to learn about Montana history dating back from the dinosaurs to the mid-20th century. Also really enjoyed the idealized paintings of Charles Russell.

Suwei Wu — Google review

Great Montana history and depth of knowledge on our great state.

winter cherry — Google review

For a small museum there was a lot to take in. Well organized. Well presented. A lot of local history. Well worth it

Lesley Bilyeu — Google review

Definitely one of the best museums I've been to. Down in Colorado we pay $30 per person on tickets for museums HALF the size of this one! Bring your kids, they'll love it!

The Wilderness Awaits — Google review

I wasn't sure what to expect- in Montana, you never know what might be considered a museum! But there is lots of information about Native culture, the mining rush, how agriculture developed and also how women's roles in Montana were very different historically from the east and west coast. Tickets are only $5 and if you ride Last Chance Train Tour, you get a BOGO coupon for admission. And while I was there, they had a very interesting exhibit on Beer!

Catholic cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

The Cathedral of Saint Helena is a gorgeous Catholic church built in 1914, with impressive twin spires that draw inspiration from Vienna's Votive Church. The stunning architecture is well-maintained, and the steeples tower into the sky while bells clang overhead. Visitors can't help but feel awed by the grandeur of God's glory within its walls. Even young children are enchanted by running around and exploring this amazing space.

Look I was not expecting to have a spiritual experience today. I came to town to visit the place that my family came from. But I didn't really have any idea what I was going to do when I got here. I saw this cathedral from a ways away and decided to check it out. As I got out of the car the bells in the tower began to chime. I claimed the steps hesitantly not wanting to interrupt anyone praying, but the room was empty. I stood in awe of the sight of this place. It took my words. My daughter had questions which I did my best to answer and when it came to the lit prayer candles. She wanted to do one. So together we lit one for our family which is no longer with us. And... It just hit me really deep. This place is a whole different thing, and it's beautiful

Michael Cochran — Google review

Such a spiritual place with incredible craftsmanship. So happy we stopped for a visit. Would love to go to a service there.

Danielle Romanowski — Google review

Absolutely beautiful inside. The organ was playing while we were there. Definitely a site to see in person

angela demski — Google review

This is a beautiful cathedral outside and in. The detail of the church and stained class windows which tell a story are amazing. It reminds me of the beautiful churches in Europe. I sat there awe struck as I looked around and marveled at the Catholic tradition decorating this beautiful cathedral.

Beth Kinsey — Google review

Absolutely stunning gem of a church as beautiful as any European ones I've visited. Breathtaking just being inside, you can't help but to look up in awe and feel small amid the glory of God.Even our 17 month old seemed pretty impressed! We've *actually* never seen her have so much fun inside a building like that, she was so happy running around and giggling and looking around super excited, it must have seemed like a big fun house to her LOL we couldn't help but let her have fun while trying our best to maintain a respectful level of reverance 😆

Alejandra Zion — Google review

As we drove up just to view from outside with the fall colors, the Bells were tolling. It was just magical. Sooo beautiful! I can't wait to see inside.

Neva Lucas — Google review

Beautiful! A true monument of faith to Helena’s riches of the past. I was fortunate enough to attend a 7am mass. Entered the church in outside darkness and as the service proceeded, the sunrise illuminated the stain glassed windows.

K LOBERT — Google review

Incredibly beautiful, architecture old and very well maintained, easy to find as the steeples were almost to the sky, the bells were chiming as we walked up the stairs.

Vicki Zable — Google review

So beautiful! Some of it reminds me of Rosalyn chapel in Scotland

RED SKIPPY — Google review

Beautiful 7 am Monday morning mass today. Simply visiting a tabernacle while away from home brings home right here where I am

Regina — Google review

Such a beautiful cathedral! All the stained glass is amazing.

Philip Fox — Google review

If group is under 10 ppl you do not need a guide and can go in as long as mass or an event is happening. Peaceful and beautiful ornate decor.

Jacob Whittier — Google review

Beautiful architecture, very well taken care of. The inside is clean and quiet

Anabel Pachano-Arismendi — Google review

Beautiful church! Amazing architecture and art.

Jake Ryan — Google review

I didn't expect to be so impressed! This has the feel of an Old World cathedral! There was music piped in that because of the speaker placement and the acoustics of the cathedral itself, made it sound like you were overhearing a rehearsal.

El — Google review

The stained glass is insane but upon entering the air was super thick and felt heavy. Off vibes in this place. Creeped my son out, not sure why but just a different feeling while walking inside it.. still breathtaking stained glass though

Jordan Owens — Google review

Beauty inside and out. Lovely architecture on the outside and gorgeous stained glass windows and other decorative touches on the inside.

We stopped here on our road trip and it has been one of my kids favorite places. The cars were really cool and there were a lot of them. After we toured the cars we went to the prison and my teenagers absolutely loved it. You get to wonder around throughout the whole thing without being bothered. It made it so we didn't have any pressure and could play stupid games. The staff was great and the town is fun too, if you are thinking about stopping it is worth it.

Marshall Zoerner — Google review

So much to see here. You could spend a full day between the two attractions. The auto museum has way more vehicles than I could have ever imagined to find in this small town. Really pleasantly surprised!Looks like there was some recent damage to the ceiling and some of the cars had obvious water marks from the damaged ceiling.Still though, it didn't take much away from the experience. The prison was really cool, Tons to see and explore. It's laid out really well and in great shape.

Brian Munoz — Google review

What a fantastic museum! We were passing through, and arrived kind of late, but were delighted to learn that our admission is good for up to a year, so we can come back and finish the rest, so long as we keep our receipt! Was mostly excited about the prison portion (which was great) but was so pleasantly surprised by the auto museum. You really do need to spend at least half a day here, but with their extended admission, this works great. Can't wait to return to attend the other attractions we didn't get to see this time (Yesterday's Playthings, Frontier Montana, etc.). Also, we were eligible for a discount, which was so greatly appreciated. Can't wait to come back!

Stephanie Blake — Google review

The auto museum was absolutely amazing. Beautiful cars from early 1900s to current. There are many rare cars to see. 100's of beautiful restored cars. Highly recommend this auto museum. The prison museum was very interesting to see. On display is barbaric old dental and medical tools they used back in the day. Very crazy to see how they handled prisoners so many years ago. This is a very eerie place.

Jill Bowman — Google review

Looks like a super cool place with lots of things to do. It was closed when we got there.(January 2022) It seems to be a good thing to do in a town where "there is nothing to do" we stopped on a road trip and were sad that it was not open. Sign said their season begins Feb 4th.We still walked around the building and enjoyed the architecture they've added. There seems to be some kind of fair ground right next to it too. It's probably where they hold city events.Parking was very very unclear. We might have parked in a field, I have no idea.Overall, I'd love to visit again when it is open if we are ever going through town.

Sara Smith — Google review

The automotive museum is very good. A great collection of cars from every era. Many of them are fairly rare to see. The collection is much larger than I expected. If you are a car person, you should plan your trip through this area to allow you to stop, you will be glad you didThe prison is eye opening. If you have never been in one, you should see it here where they let you leave. You do not want your first tour to be a permanent one haha.

hypur padre — Google review

This is a must see. So many cars and the self guided digital audio tour is great for the prison. Plan on spending at least 3 hours here.Bonus keep your receipt and you can come back for another visit within a year for free.Visit the antique shop across the road. It’s the home of the warden and a super cute shop. The inmate hobby store across the street is also amazing.

Whitney Bytheway — Google review

We used to ask Grandma if she went to college. She said she graduated from MSP, a private girls school out west. Little did we know her alma mater was the Montana State Penitentiary in Deer Lodge. What an amazing place. The car museum goes on and on with a collection of cars that has to be valued in the millions. The old prison grounds are interesting and the buildings are spooky yet give a real sense of what it must have been like inside. The self guided tour had plenty of info and stops with unbelievable and very interesting facts. Bring the family and check it out. As for grandma, she wouldn’t get out of the van while the family saw the sites. She said she wasn’t going back behind those walls. Unreal. Anyway, check it out. Btw, I bet many came to know Jesus in the little chapel there. Pretty cool and Jesus does save. From behind bars to eternity, I can’t imagine!

Q W — Google review

This place is a really cool stop you might otherwise overlook. It has an old prison, hundreds of amazing cars from the 1900s-1970s, and an old toy museum. You gain access to all of this with one admission ticket sold at the prison gift shop, which is good for a 2nd visit within one year. The prison is cool to walk around, and the ghost/paranormal crowd seems to especially dig it. The car museum is amazing, there are so many old, expensive and rare cars in there! I really liked the toy museum, make sure to check out the miniture train exhibit. The caretaker was very kind and sweet.

Jamez — Google review

Love this place. Never thought I'd say that about a prison. But there is so much history here and I went with my husband a few years ago and again just a few weeks ago. I love that we can go into the different cells and offices and see what it was like.

Mynameis NoOne — Google review

This was a fun experience. This prison is old, not maintained, and pretty cool. They offer military discount on admissions tickets. The tickets get you into all the museums. There is a car museum, old vintage logging, mining museum, WW2, old toys, hobby craft, art and pen museum. There are also some old trains to see, a pinic area, old jail, blacksmith shack, log cabin, schoolhouse, carriage house and antique stores.

A Plus — Google review

It's a very educational place for everyone especially the Montanians. This is where you will learn about the prison history and the prisoner's life. It's worth to see. I've been there on Halloween month. The staff decorated the place in a spooky way! I was so scared! They did a great job!

hey.junebug — Google review

Wonderful museum complex just off the highway in Deer Lodge. We were just passing through on the way to Glacier NP and had a little time on our hands. The prison is large and clearly laid out. The displays are very interesting. The attached car museum is wonderful. My husband and I found both our first cars in there. It was quite a fun afternoon. The ticket price includes a second visit, which we plan on using next week to visit the museums across the street of toys and WWII vehicles.

Tina Hawley — Google review

Amazing value! Your ticket to this museum also gets you entry to several others and one revisit for up to a year. The gift shop is very nice, reasonably prices. The staff are friendly, and the tour was excellent. We will definitely take advantage of that revisit! Considering the value you get, the 18.00 adult admission is a real bargain :-).

Eva Landry — Google review

Broken Wings Paranormal (found on YouTube) did an overnight investigation from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. We have investigated other prisons and we are very impressed with how clean this prison is. We loved how easily accessible the building's are, and the fact they're far enough away from each other that we had no issues with interference of sounds from the other buildings or outside. It was sad we weren't able to go into the theater. Hopefully, the investigation fees will help more funds go to supporting the renovation of that building. We would love to come back, especially after the incredible paranormal evidence we captured here. We highly recommend this location for other groups, and even individuals who want to take part in a tour.

SUZIE Q — Google review

This was a great stop!!! The kids didn't want to stop initially, but ended up enjoying reading the plaques and learning about what was made here.We were quite humbled seeing the missing children in the law enforcement museum section, but it opened for a discussion topic that we don't talk about enough, and they wanted to understand more.

Tami Albert — Google review

I visited the Old Montana Prison back in July of this year. I went on the self guided day tour, along with the overnight paranormal tour. The staff both day and night time guides are very friendly, along with being informative with knowledge and stories of the prison. I want to note that ticket price is a good value that provides admission into several other museums besides for the prison.

We went by on a Monday when the boat tours are not in service. I don’t know if it is worth the stop if you can’t go out in a boat. The view isn’t that spectacular just from land. Certainly pretty but not sure it’s worth going out of your way to see. Just FYI for those considering adding it to their road trip.

Megan Minkley — Google review

The Gates of the Mountain boat tour is wonderful!!! We bring our assisted living residents over every summer from Butte, MT. Everyone that works there is so accommodating and helpful. Since we have such a large group, they assist us on and off the boat, deliver our food from the snack bar and carry our coolers. The information on the tour is fun and interesting. They are absolutely the BEST! We have never had a bad experience there. It is so wonderful to be able to provide such a great experience to our assisted living residents. Thank you!

Tonya Kish — Google review

The boat tour was absolutely beautiful!I'd definitely bring my parents, when they come to visit, if it's just a boat tour.I'm only giving 4 stars, because of the dinner, what we paid was not worth it, at all! $59 for a steak dinner.....I didn't get a steak, I got 4 thin cut strips of steak, some potatoes and a salad. My husband said the chicken w/ fettuccine was good....but again, not worth what we paid

Stop and walk this Ranch Museum...it is amazing!!!! All the Rangers have a vast knowledge of this place and the outbuildings hold so much information and visual treasures. A wonderful stop for families to teach their children about history.

LeeAnna Springer — Google review

An incredible preserved snapshot of ranch life. All staff was incredibly friendly, esp the woman serving the cowboy coffee! A must stop for any national park enthusiast.

Nick Esposito — Google review

Learned a lot here. There were several exhibits showing what life was like on a working ranch in the mid-1800's. National Park employees are very helpful and informative. Tours of the house available if you sign up.

Jessica Johnson — Google review

This place is a gem. Second visit while driving through. Wonderful place to stretch your legs during a long I-90 road trip. There are tons of buildings to explore and some animals to see up close. Lots of interesting facts about real life cowboys of the old west. Don't miss the chuckwagon chat. The house tours just reopened 6-27-22 after being closed for years due to COVID. Rangers and volunteers are knowledgeable and very interested in ensuring you have a fun visit as long as you're respectful of the historical artifacts.Make sure the kids get a Junior RANCHER booklet on the way in. My kid already has a vest full of Junior Ranger badges, but they're especially proud of the Junior Rancher badge.

Such an amazing and Historic place to visit! I Remember coming here when I was in Grade school! It was such a Great time and fun Memories! Look forward to coming back in the summer, when more of it is open!

Samuel Tintinger (Hotsprings Sam) — Google review

Sure I am sure glad I found this very fun and informative ranch. There is no entry fee, thank you national Park service. The day I went there they were serving a free chuckwagon lunch. Make sure you sign up for the tour of the main house which is free but limited availability. Get to see what a working ranch is and was. They still farm the ranch and raise cattle and hay. As usual the park service people were very nice people. You could cruise through the place in an hour or spend 2 1/2 hours like I did. You will need to walk a mile or so. Plenty of benches around.

Gary Kowal — Google review

We walked around the ranch for a couple hours. Met a knowledgeable park ranger and a cowboy by the chuck wagon. Lots of interesting stuff and info. Totally enjoyed our visit!

Lisa Ullman — Google review

Awesome ranch and very knowledgeable. Staff enjoyed the tour of the farmhouse.

donna lee — Google review

Very impressive for a free tour. Unfortunately they did not let you take photographs of the inside of the house. It is mostly original artifacts inside. Very impressed for house of this age would be preserved this level. Also includes original barns and a bunch of historic carriages

Aaron N — Google review

Very interesting ranch and history. You must take the house tour. That was the best. Very informative and interesting. Definitely worth a stop. With tour it should only take a few hours to go thru the whole thing

Jennifer Perez — Google review

This place was pretty amazing!! We went to get our National Parks Passport book stamped but it turned out to be pretty spectacular!!! There was a working blacksmith shop and a real cowboy with coffee brewing over an open fire! LOTS of buildings to self guide through. Cows and horses and chicken. We went out of our way to go so we didn't have time for the tour of the house but wish we had! The views were amazing as well. The husband and wife team that we met at the visitors center were so nice and super helpful. They volunteer their time to work there! We were both super impressed!!!!

Jay Detty — Google review

We were lucky enough to visit the ranch on day when they were haying. Everything on the ranch follows the customs from the early 1900s and watching them use the beaver slide didn't disappoint. We were also fortunate to sit beside a lady whose father built over 50 beaver slides. She was a walking Wikipedia source. We did the house tour and most of the facilities. We spent about 2.5 hours and didn't see everything.

R R (Reggie78923) — Google review

Important place in Western US history. Late 19th century main house with period furnishings. Chuck wagon, bunk house, stables, historic horse-drawn wheeled vehicles, blacksmith shop, and other buildings. If you want to learn about late 19th to early 20th century ranching, the Grant-Kohrs Ranch is highly recommended.

Delbert Estey — Google review

This place was awesome and completely free (they accept donations). The staff was extremely knowledgable and entertaining. I would definitely recommend the house tour and chuckwagon tour. The covered wagon/horse tour was also nice, but I believe it only happens on Mondays. Many of the staff are cowboys and know how to lasso. They are happy to teach you if you ask!

Museum

Sights & Landmarks

The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is a spacious museum with interactive exhibits, walking trails, and a theater for shows and ranger talks. Visitors can explore exhibits that follow the path of the adventurers, while friendly docents offer additional information beyond the displays shown on laminated maps. The center provides clean facilities including restrooms, outdoor gardens with signage for native plants, ample parking including handicapped parking. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate easy access to adjacent trails and views of the Missouri River.

Arguably the best part of this museum is the staff (the same does not apply to the gift shop staff … that was a bad experience) they were knowledgeable, fun, and really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Aside from the staff, the museum itself was well done. The exhibits were well explained and told the story of Lewis and Clark with clarity. One item of note, at the end of exhibits are a few cases of guns, go to that case and look at the top most gun at the front. That’s a replica of the repeating air rifle, a true marvel of engineering and what the Indians were shown as Lewis and Clark traveled. Imagine seeing a rifle that didn’t need gunpowder, was quiet when shot, and didn’t create muzzle flash. That’d be fairly amazing to see in a world of muzzle loaded weapons. Anyway, highly recommend place to visit.

Alain Gyger — Google review

Had the entire museum to ourselves for two hours on a cold, snowy January day. Great family outing for kids 5 or 6+. Plenty of tactile displays, a unique journey along a carpeted “river”, and good reproductions make this a very interesting way to interact with history. It’s presented from Lewis and Clark’s perspective, but I thought it fairly well-balanced in respect to indigenous participation. Would definitely go back!

Kathrina Redekop — Google review

This is the cutest place and definitely worth the visit. It seems to be run by the cutest retirees with a passion for educating others. My seven year old participated in the junior explorer scavenger hunt and it was a great way for her to engage in the museum and learn a lot! The exhibits are really well put together and very interactive. If the weather was nicer we would have checked out some of the trails. They looked beautiful though!

Shannon Taggart — Google review

Clean and nice center with lot of informations. Very friendly staff. I spent a few hours here with my kids and they loved the photo hunt a lot. The exposition is well made and full of interesting things. It gives you a good feeling how that all was. Even for me and I’m from Germany. Nice place.

Mirko Frind — Google review

Nice center with pleasant staff. Clean place, clean bathrooms. The various displays appeared to display more of the positive side of the Lewis and Clark expedition(s), but kind of glossed over some of the "not great" aspects. I think it would have been beneficial to give more of an explanation of the not great aspects of the journey, the explorers' encounters with various Indian tribes, and treatment of women.Separately, there are nice walking paths outside, with nice views of the river. The cost I think is $8pp, unless you have a national parks pass (in which case, you'd get in for free). Military also get in for free.

Rachel Brower — Google review

Amazing place! It is full of history and great for all ages! Butler the Newfoundland dog makes it even better! He’s same breed of dog that Lewis and Clark took with them. We highly recommend it

Awesomism Mom — Google review

The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center is an amazing star in the crown of Great Falls. With so much information about this incredible journey, it is all put together in a highly comprehensive, and wonderfully interactive manner. Kids love all of the hands-on exhibits.

Friendly docents who are more than happy to share a little extra info beyond what you see on the map of displays. Laminated maps are disinfected after each use. Spacious theatre for shows and ranger talks throughout the day. Many interactive exhibits. If you have a National Parks Passport book, don't forget to get it stamped here! Talk a walk around outdoors to see the Missouri River. Easy access to adjacent trails.Large lobby, clean restrooms, bottle filler/water fountain, hand sanitizer stations. Outdoor gardens with signage for native plants. Ample parking, including handicapped parking.

We had a great time here. Our kids learned so much, heck we all did! Doing the Lewis and Clark bingo or activity book was fun and also helped you slow down and read stuff. I walked through here like 3 times. Free souvenir for completing it is pretty nice too, not cheap plastic stuff.

Clyde Buell — Google review

Really nice museum that explains in detail the Lewis & Clark expidition west through the newly purchased Louisiana territory to find a route to the Pacific Ocean. It is worth the stop.

Nature & Parks

Giant Springs State Park, situated in Montana, houses one of the largest freshwater springs in North America and offers a 30-mile trail. It is a stunning destination for nature enthusiasts with its picturesque scenery. Visitors can explore the area's natural beauty by capturing photographs or videos while enjoying the serene atmosphere. Additionally, Rainbow Falls and Black Eagle Falls are other nearby attractions that visitors can visit to enjoy their time spent in this beautiful state park.

Our first-time visit, awesome views, great place to see waterfalls, rock formations mountains, some wildlife, and tumbleweeds + crazy wind that NO hair spray will survive ! Bonus..check out the Missouri River in Montana. Check it out for yourself !

This is so worth coming to. So easy to park, entrance is free. Giant Springs is a treasure for the area, they attached fish hatchery is interesting and very quick to learn about how fish are spawned and then sent to various lakes and streams around Montana. The park is great for walking along Rivers edge it is paved and flat it is a beautiful walk good enough for people on walkers canes and wheelchairs all will have access to this incredible walk along the river. When's walking others happily greet you with a hello, it seems others in the area are so happy to be here. There are all kinds of birds in the area we saw seagulls pelicans and other Montana based birds. I highly recommend for anyone no matter if you're in good health or not so good health this is an easy place to come for a gentle walk.

BANGKOKBANKS — Google review

This place is gorgeous, and so peaceful. It’s one of the things I miss most about great falls. It’s even nice in the winter.

Austin — Google review

Great experience with Trout Hatchery. Learned that trout survive mostly on cold climate for it gets sunburn above 54 ° C. Saw the tree my son planted at this park. There's a crack in the rock, a brook opening that travels from the mountain. It's a fresh water but not advisable to drink since other animals thrive here. We just saw a beaver. Montana is known for its gusty ruthless wind for its proximity to Canada. Cold but worth the experience with nature. Next year we will visit during summer.

Awesome I love going here taking the family having outings going for walks fishing feeding the fish and barbecuing there’s a park for the kids and a place to relax is everything a family needs and what there isn’t you can bring

Ed Damon — Google review

An amazing place to bring your family. Spectacular views of the Missouri River. Visit a State Fish Hatchery on site. Nice walking trails along the river.

Beautiful park. I visited in the winter which was still nice, but it looks much better in the summer. Small fish hatchery with trout. Lots of benches and trees.

Moved here to Montana August 2021. Since living here I've been to Great Falls area twice to go to Walmart for my shopping and automotive service. This was my third time going to Great Falls so thought I'd check out all the cool things to do out in nature in the area for a full day. This place was absolutely gorgeous. Loved it. Took close to 100 combination of photos/videos while I was there. Then followed up by going to Rainbow Falls 1.1 miles from here and then in the opposite direction 4.5 miles to Black Eagle Falls. They were ok, nothing compared to this spring Park. Definitely will visit again now that I live in this beautiful state.

Candy Brown — Google review

It's a beautiful place, can take a nice walk, can take you (leashed) dog, fun for the family, lots of places to sit along the way and tables at times for eating or resting. It's quite lovely.

Leo Villanueva — Google review

Feeding the giant trout is awesome! The signs are very informative and the geology is very interesting to learn about. This is a great place for kids but not a good place for dogs.

Graham Francis — Google review

Beautiful park. The springs are colorful, clear, and just amazing. The hatchery is currently only partially open because of a parasite problem, but still is interesting and informative. The bird life around the springs is diverse and colorful. A definite must see in Great Falls.

Beautiful little park. Nice way to spend a relaxing bit of time watching the river… not much to speak of beyond what it is. A lovely little park.

Glenn Robertson — Google review

This park is a must see if you’re visiting Great Falls. From the springs to the long trail, all is beautiful to view. The park has restrooms, a vending machine to purchase drinks, and a leave one take one library. It is dog friendly. 10/10 Experience

Heather Howell Photography — Google review

One of our favorite places to stop in Great Falls. We spent hours exploring and watching the springs break forth. Beautiful and historic site, a must stop if in the area, even in the winter.

N & C Dkkr — Google review

A beautiful spring, certainly unique, with an interesting historical reference through the explorers Lewis and Clark that provides a context we otherwise would completely lack! The attached fish hatchery is fun to check out, there are more things to learn about fish than probably most of us attempt to!I enjoyed what they had to share, feel like it motivated me to learn more!Wish I could swim in that spring! 🙂54F is pretty cold, but when it's 100F out it sure looks inviting! Not to be however. The river works!

Laine McNeil — Google review

Joy Wills — Google review

Very nice walk. The trail is level and an easy walk to enjoy the surrounding scenery.

Kalwren42 — Google review

I didn't know there was a quiet peaceful place in great falls till my family and I went here. My son tried to get a blue crawdad but couldn't because the spring water was so cold lol. Great place to sit and have lunch and unwind. We got wonderful pictures and learned about the fish. Got to see Juniper, the rangers bull snake. We had a great time rolling down the grassy hills and watching people fish by the river. The restrooms were very clean, it was animal friendly and lots of picnic area.

The C.M. Russell Museum boasts an extensive collection of works by the renowned Western artist, as well as his home and log studio on display. The main level features galleries filled with Charles M. Russell's art and other artists' works, while the lower level houses historical displays such as The Bison exhibit, Browning Firearms Collection, Dale Ford Wagons, and Contway Bronze Collection. Additionally, visitors can observe bison roaming on less than 10% of their original territory outside the museum walls.

The most well maintained collection of Midwestern heritage. Everything in Charles Russell's home looks usable. Amazing collection of Native ceremonial accessories. Much larger museum than expected don't miss the bottom floor the gun collection is amazing.

We finally went for a visit. Friday and museum was not too busy. Took our time. Very well laid out. Great info beside pictures. Very good collection of C M Russell art. Also lots of native art and memorabilia. Make sure to make time to visit cabin and house just outside the main museum. Beautiful and so nice to c both in such condition. Admission was very reasonable. Looks like there’s more to come. We will be back to check. Sure glad we stopped!

Museum for C.M. Russell, an iconic painter of the West. Primarily paintings and drawings, with some sculptures. The are other exhibits of contemporary and modern artists showing the West as it was, as it was mythologized, and how it is. Outside of the museum are the house and studio of C.M. Russell. Highly recommended for those interested in the Old West.

Delbert Estey — Google review

I'm a big fan of Charlie's work; such a thrill to see his paintings in person! My only complaint was that there are so many blank walls, perhaps exhibits that had been removed?? but all in all, it was a fantastic destination and I learned so much about the artist's life and the old wild West.

Kelly Tyler — Google review

Very, very nice gallery. Worth the money for artist exposure. Make sure you have the time, it took 5 of us 3 hours without reading every sign. Great gun display for the western fans. Nice works from different collections and surprising finds throughout the gallery.

A great museum of the world 🌎 right here in Montana - make at least a half day of it and be sure to visit his studio and house along with the entire gallery - you won't regret it

Paul Robertson — Google review

My wife and I visited yesterday. The collections there are outstanding and the display is great. To really see and take-in all that is there would take several visits. The only reason I don't rate this as 5*s is that the staff is standoffish and cold. There was no attempt at even a friendly greeting, nor offer of guidance on best ways to tour or see the museum. So much more could be done in this area to improve the visitor experience.

The museum was a great stop while in Montana. It's very cool to see the process on how they do their digs. I would really love to go on a dig. The personnel at the counter were very friendly and personable.

This was such a pleasant surprise. I've wanted to stop by here but have never really had a good chance. However, now that I'm retired and drive my car from Phoenix to spend time in my native Montana, this was the day (Aug 4) as I was driving from Glacier Park.Everyone associated with the Center was eager to help and seemed to love being a part of this place. There was lots to see and get close to. The Center tries to make you one with the Dinosaur environment and I think they do a good job. I highly recommend a visit here.

Angela Romain — Google review

Great exhibits especially for such a remote location. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I were there in late September after the summer crowds. We were the only visitors there when we arrived. This is a great place for anyone to see, especially if you are traveling with kids, or dinosaur fans (like me).Make sure you go the the rock shop right next door. They have lots of great specimens, and great prices.

Dogster Doolittle — Google review

We took our dino obsessed 7yr old for a full day dig and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Bailey and Dustin were great guides, very informative, helpful and patient with the kiddos. Even answering every question our son had, which was a ton 😆. As adults we thought it was a great experience, never thought we'd actually help excavate actual bones so it was awesome! Our son hasn't stopped sharing the experience with everyone we've come into contact with since. THANK YOU for making his day so incredibly memorable, he's already asking how much longer until he can be a paleontologist and work on the sites there.

Fun place to visit, a bit small but there are still a lot of cool things to look at. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable

Nena — Google review

This place is a hidden gem! The host was very knowledgeable and the in progress fossil unearthing was super exciting to see. There is a large amount of information to see in this building. The gift shop was also wonderful. Jewelry, resource books, stuffed and science kits for the kids. Will definitely stop again.

Terra Anderson-Broughton — Google review

I had the time of my life at this place! Got to experience my dream job for a few hours! Actually was able to hold real fossils found in the area! I also participated in the day long dig!

Matthew Hawkins — Google review

The Montana Dinosaur Center is one of the stops on the dinosaur trail you can book an excevation tour. Saddly, we did not do this at this time as you will want your kids to be old enough to enjoy a half or full day outing. Ours are a bit too young to enjoy such an outing. The museum portion itself is small but has some amazing displays. Additionally, they have a life-size dinosuar in the exhibit hall that shows you how big dinosaurs could get. If there when it is quite you get a private tour by one of the staff. Eric, one of the staff, shared a wealth of knowledge as he guided us through the museum. He was also amazing at making it enjoyable for younger kids, pointing out cool and interesting things to the kids as well as answering all their questions.I highly recommend stopping here and hope you get Eric as your curator guide.

I was so impressed with the interactivity and engagement of this lab's Dig for a Day experience, that I enrolled for another day after finishing three. The site I was working on is very promising so far in terms of its yield. On the days that included young children, we were guided to a couple of nearby fossil sites for exercise and exploration. This lab has a lot going for it, its gallery being the icing on the cake.

Adam Hegedus — Google review

We spent the day doing a dino fossil dig. The cost was $225 for the day(9-5) including a small sack lunch and water. The actual dig time was about 4 hours due to drive time to site and back to the facility plus a short tour guide through their museum. The best part was being able to dig and brush through a dig site that had been partially exposed pelvic bones from a dino.**In reply to your response, we had originally purchased a two day dig. We had to cancel 2nd day dig because we had to change our days of travel and head home. It would have been nice to get a full refund instead of a partial.

Chrissy Fay — Google review

Loved it! We visited the first week of April and had the entire place to ourselves. Definitely going to book a dig on the next visit.

Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park is a campground located on the Milk River, renowned for its hoodoos and First Nations petroglyphs. Recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers beautiful waterfront views and a sandy beach for families to enjoy. This unique location features ancient rock art in the form of pictographs and carvings dating back to 1050 BCE.

We stayed in Lethbridge overnight and decided to do a quick trip here. It's an hour away from there. It didn't disappoint us! Beautiful area with camp sites. Make sure you have your hiking shoes and sticks. We'll definitely come back to hike more and paddle in the river.

The Marcelos — Google review

Stunning scenery! Could hike through the rocks for many hours. Beautiful view of mountains in the distance🤩 The river is great for cooling off as it is only knee/waist deep the whole way across. Also an excellent playground and areas for having lunch. Great place to spend a summer day!

Zoe Hope — Google review

Absolutely the best hike! Such history and amazing scenery. Saw tons of birds and even a Bull Snake. It was at least 5' long! The one rock formation looked like an old man with a big nose and hat like Toad from Mario. Will definitely be back to visit. The Western Meadowlarks were everywhere!

Micah Robinson — Google review

The park is awesome, the campground is awesome! One of my favourites. There’s showers (2$ if I remember correctly), a beach (no pet allowed), you can bring your air mattress or whatever floating device to enjoy a lazy-river style ride, and the hoodoo trail is spectacular 👍🏻 I’ll certainly go back there on next summer! Drinking water has a weird taste though; bring your water container.

Tiffany S. — Google review

Wonderful vacation location. Be warned that this is typically a very hot destination in summer. Was only here for 2 nights of camping but got to enjoy a lot of the activities in that time: floating down the Milk River, exploring the hoodoos, taking one of the UNESCO tours of the restricted area, walking all of the hiking trails, taking in an evening interpretative shows and visiting the visitor centre and gift shop. You don't want to miss the beach, the cute bunnies, deer, and resident owl.

Christine Maurette — Google review

Very intriguing place to visit. The landscape is unique and offers scenic views, and not only in the summer! We went on a beautiful sunny day in January, it was calm and peaceful and there were hardly any other people around. There is an out-and-back trail to follow as well as some smaller loop trails and a campground.

Julia — Google review

The Hoodoos at Writing on Stone are so much more impressive than the Drumheller. I have been there twice now, and on our last visit, we took the guided tour into the private area and were very impressed with the scenery and formation of the Hoodoos. It was interesting to hear the stories told about the history. It just left me puzzled as some of the stories appear to be tales passed down generations. But it was well worth the tour.

Rhonda Merko — Google review

Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, Alberta's newest UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a truly remarkable place that seamlessly combines natural beauty with cultural significance. This sacred space offers a unique experience filled with stunning landscapes and fascinating history. One of the highlights of my visit was joining the Markings of Aisinapi guided tour, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. Our guide, Rebecca, was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also passionate about sharing her insights into the Blackfoot people and the remarkable markings they left behind. Her enthusiasm and genuine love for the park made the tour both educational and captivating.Preservation is paramount when it comes to sites like Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, and it is evident that great care is taken to maintain its natural and cultural integrity. The importance of preserving this place for future generations to learn from and appreciate cannot be overstated. It is a testament to the park's commitment to conservation and the recognition of its historical significance. While exploring the park, keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife that calls this area home. From rabbits to rattlesnakes, there is a good chance of encountering some of these fascinating creatures. However, it is worth noting that cell service may be limited in certain parts of the park. To ensure a smooth visit, I highly recommend downloading an offline map beforehand.

Celia T — Google review

I love taking my kids here. There is so much to learn. All the hikes are easy, but it does get really hot amongst those formations, so make sure you have plenty of water for you and your dog.

Pixels by Tina — Google review

Took the hoodoo trail hike which was a short 2.5km and an easy hike. Beautiful scenery and loved being in the energy of this wonder.Cool spots to visit throughout hike and nice places for meditations. Definitely worth checking out to say the least. Blessed to have some of these beautiful spots in Alberta a short drive away from Calgary.

Luke Loran — Google review

One of the most beautiful places to visit and camp at in Alberta. The sites were big and quiet, with animals wandering through the sites through the day.The tour of the carvings was very informative and has great views of the river. The hiking trail out to the battle scene is perfect for an afternoon adventure. Just keep in mind that very little of the park is accessible due to how much of the landscape is more rugged.

Micaela Dawn — Google review

Love this place. Similar to Dinosaur Provincial Park but definitely worth a visit. Drive down the road towards the campground entrance and up towards the scenic viewpoint. The Battle Scene Hike is in this area separate from the visitor centre one or follow the hoodoo trail

J Rhind — Google review

Amazing location. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a very modern visitor center. There are paid guided tours, but they also have a little tour book for self-guided tours. There is drinkable water and coin-operated showers on site. The rock formations/hoodoos are spectacular in person. Pay attention for plants you won't find in Northern Alberta, especially rare grasses and cacti.Weather can change in a heartbeat. Even if it says 0% chance of rain, that can become "severe thunderstorm warning" unexpectedly, as happened to us yesterday.Overall, highly recommend this place! Bring a swimsuit since the Milk River runs right beside the campground.

GiantSnail — Google review

Amazing place with rock formations of different shape and sizes. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a very modern visitor center. Milk river runs beside the camp grounds. Scenic views and beautiful walks. You can find many rare species of plants and cacti.

Jose Cyriac — Google review

It was interesting and exciting to see petroglyphs” created by the Blackfoot in person” and up close. There is a visitor centre with more information so it would be a good idea to go a half hour earlier than your scheduled tour to be able to read and see the exhibits. The tour guide showed us the carvings and explained what she could, as it is “anyone’s guess” what they really meant. The whole experience was great, the only part I would try to improve is to avoid making a couple of off-jokes about the drawings, I think it isn’t necessary.

Anna M — Google review

Very nice provincial park along the Milk River in Southern Alberta. We visited in late April, the Visitor Centre was not open. The campground and day use area are quite nice. The Hoodoo Trail along the Milk River is excellent. The rock art was a bit underwhelming.

David Parratt — Google review

Another hidden gem in Alberta! Very interesting history. You can stretch your legs a lot or a little; depends on if you do the whole trail or you can drive between certain points and walk to writings/drawings. It is a shame that people think they need to "add" to the writings with their own. Be aware of the Rattlesnake migration in the fall as there were 10 spotted the day we were there 😬, we didn't see any though!

Young hoggY — Google review

Truly amazing!!!Spectacular landscape. Plenty of wildlife and the free information brochures at the visitor center were very much appreciated. It helped us identify the bullsnake we saw on our walk.

Jen N — Google review

•My site was almost perfectly level.•It was very spacious and quite deep, could have easily accommodated a much bigger rig.•My RV (26’) and toad fit in with plenty of room to spare•Site had power (30 amp), picnic table and fire pit•There are several pit toilets throughout the campground•There is shower building with flush toilets, showers are $2.00 for 5 minutes, not way to control temp, but water is warm•There is a store on site with limited selection.•Lots of things for kids and adults to do•River is about 100 feet away, hoodoo and trails right there.I truly enjoyed my stay there, however due to limited services, pay showers, cottonwood fluff like it was a blizzard and an infestation of moths I can only give this a 3 out of 5.

Dale G — Google review

This definitely an underrated nature spot in Alberta! Worth the trip, the entrance is free and you have a visitor center too. Not so much people and it's great!

Greg D — Google review

Well worth the visit. The rock formations are hard to believe. Plus the history of native indigenous written on the rocks was nice to see.

cingor58 — Google review

It’s an experience. It may not have the Rocky Mountains and fancy lake, but it is still very very worth it.Being coined the UNESCO world heritage site might have something to do with it, but the facilities are amazing. Bathrooms are clean, water is facility treated, they even have a camp store open until 9pm for food and essentials. Beat that. The Hoodos and Archeological preserve are amazing ways to spend your time if you are a history buff or take your kids for a camping treat with lots to learn about history, geography and nature. We absolutely loved the guided tours, the amphitheater performance put on by Parks Canada staff, and interactive museum and the hoodo trail. We also enjoyed the small beach next to Milk River. Water is clean, fast flowing, knee deep at max to cross the river. Paddle boards, tubes, anything would be fun. Will definitely return.

Govind Sood — Google review

Alberta is home to alien-looking rock formations called hoodoos and one of the best places to see them is at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, right at the southern end of the province. This UNESCO World Heritage Site isn’t just special because it’s beautiful, but it’s also sacred to the Blackfoot people, whose ancestors left rock carvings and paintings on the hoodoos, having had inhabited the land for over 10,000 years. The hoodoos can be viewed by wandering along the Matapiiksi (Hoodoo) Trail, a 1.5-mile (2.5km) path that weaves throughout the formations, with the carvings visible as visitors walk by. There are some steep sections and the natural terrain can be a bit uneven, making it inaccessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs, but the walk isn’t overly difficult. Hikers also get a view of the sediment-laden Milk River, the only river in Canada that drains south into the Mississippi drainage system.

Rajesh Mondal (Devy Jones) — Google review

Beautiful Milk River Valley with hoodoos a plenty to climb, slide down and crawl through. What beautiful views! I've been trying to get my sons to the park their entire lives as we moved out of province before they were born. They told me that it was amazing and understood why I wanted them to see this place :)

Jason Vanden Berg — Google review

Wow, stunning views and walks. Very hot in Aug. Nice knee deep River great area for floating. Or letting the kids play. Campground was also very nice, park was renovated in 2021 and looks great. There are shows to entertain you and the kids. Recommend the 'Bat walk'. Sorry bad shot of the site, looks more like a car galm shot. Didn't take many of the site. Flush toilet, shower and small store available on site.

The museum boasts an impressive collection of over 270 carriages that offer a comprehensive exploration of transportation history. Visitors highly recommend taking a guided tour led by knowledgeable and friendly staff to gain insights into the highlights and background of the exhibits.

Wonderful place to see. A great history lesson in every aisle you go down. Some amazing exhibits, you can spend days looking and reading all the information. Helpful, friendly staff. A great family day event.

Way better than I had expected, this museum is a must, especially if you get a guided tour to explain the highlights and the background, which we did, and it was worth 10x the value than doing a self-guided one.I would consider this one of the top sights and Must Do activities if one is doing the cowboy trail or interested in any part of Alberta's historical past.I highly recommend a visit here, an hour and a half minimum would be good, if you get the guided tour. It’s a huge place with so many carriages with all different histories, very interesting!

From the moment one of my friends inquired about a tour, the staff was accommodating and friendly, and Jen proved to be an exceptional guide. Her knowledge and eagerness to share her findings and insights added an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit. The museum's collection is simply astounding. With over 270 carriages on display, it offers a comprehensive exploration of the history of transportation. From the humble carriages of farmers to the luxury carriages, each exhibit provides a captivating glimpse into the past. The collection not only highlights the diversity of carriage designs but also educates visitors about the historical context behind them. One particular highlight of the museum is its restoration workshop. Witnessing the meticulous process of repairing and restoring these magnificent carriages was truly fascinating. The dedication and expertise of the craftsmen involved are evident in the impeccable results they achieve. It was a pleasure to learn about the time and care it takes to preserve these historical treasures for future generations.I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Remington Carriage Museum!

Absolutely beautiful carriages. It was something my partner wanted to check out the next time we were near Cardston. I am very glad we stopped by. We even had a chance to go for a carriage ride. Definitely worth going.

Cathryn Brewer — Google review

Such interesting history of transportation until early motors. It’s particularly interesting to consider the negative ramifications of large scale urban animal powered transport. I was fortunate to have multiple days to view and read all exhibits. There is a lot to take in. Very family friendly.

There is probably thousands of carriages! My family and I thought we were just going to see a few carriages. Well..... we were in for a surprise! We also went on a carriage ride around town. It was really fun. All of the workers were great to talk to. Would highly recommend!

Soo many carriages, the restoration work on them is amazing! My favourite was the horse-drawn fire engine.

What a wonderful experience! The front counter lady was cheerful and welcoming, the manager came up to us during our tour to ensure we were enjoying it, he was informative, kind and a pleasure to visit with.Highly recommend this for an affordable family day

Awesome piece of history, really nice carriages and very informative of Alberta's and Canada's history. The staff was very friendly. Was here years ago, really a nice way to spend a part of family day 2024.

Nice place to visit with kids. There are no rides until July so plan to visit in July if you want to ride in the carriages.

This Museum is beautiful inside and out.We were welcomed by a very nice lady and the prices aren’t that high to enter into the museum. They even offer Carriage rides to go behind the creek! (totally worth it to be honest)The layout of the museum and how the carriages are displayed is wonderfully done! You can really see the history and evolution of the carriages. The gift shop by the front door is cute, you will definitely take something home with you after experiencing the rich history from this museum.10/10 would definitely go again.Great place to go with family and kids.

I was very impressed with the amount of carraiges that are in the museum. I have a friend that has always spoke highly of the museum and I was finally able to visit it and I was very happy that I had taken the time to visit it and step back in time.

Fun & Games

Pure Casino Lethbridge is a fantastic establishment for the residents of Lethbridge. It offers various gaming options like slot machines and gaming tables, as well as regular live entertainment. If you're interested in playing poker, it's advisable to call ahead to ensure availability. The in-house grill and bar serve up delicious food at reasonable prices, although they may have a shortage of wait staff from time to time. Despite this, customers can expect top-notch service when visiting Pure Casino Lethbridge.

Beautiful place! Great staff! The food is outstanding and such a great price!

Often stop here for supper. Great specials daily. Service is always top notch. And if u like liver this is the place. Ordered the liver, bacon, onions. Two piece and was stuffed. It comes with mashed potatoes but this time ordered the fries. Bad idea next time mashed potatoes. The fries were terrible and this happened before. Maybe frying them and re frying. Not sure but won’t order them again. Also we ordered a hot hamburger sandwich. That was fresh ground beef on Texas bread. Tasty gravey on top. Disappointed in their choice of vegetables. 🥦 cauliflower. With all the corn and peas and carrots grown around southern Alberta maybe that might be a better offering. Back to liver. Cooked just right tender and thin slices. Bacon and onions were cooked to perfection. Waiter was ok. Kinda forgot about us. But they were busy also. Always clean and the tables cleaned off fast for people waiting. Check out the pictures of the liver meal. Their prices are very reasonable and not drive in quality. Will be back that’s for sure!

For the population of Lethbridge, Pure Casino is pretty great. Decent selection of VLTs and table games. Always a good idea to call ahead if looking to play Poker. Their in house restaurant is fantastic. Good quality food at reasonable prices. The restaurant always seem short staffed with wait staff, but they always make up for it with killer service!

Food is always great and fresh , not a ton of options but a great variety and the servers are delightful and sweet all the time. Known for their liver and onions but I love the club house . ( mash potato scare scooped like hospital food ) but poutine is great! And drinks are perfect .

New years 80.00 basically for a buffet. Too many people in too small of a spot. People waiting to get food while your eating. You could see the band from any place and I could have brought my own party favors. Not worth 80.00.

Shelly Miller — Google review

Very sad how the restaurant has gone down hill. Went with friends last weekend, 1 ordered turkey dinner special. You now get 3 pieces of processed turkey slices, no more freshly cooked turkey. Baja Bowl is also very low quality & meals looked thrown together. Beef dip was full of gristle & fat. Caesar salad was slimmy & soggy. Been going to the restaurant for years & very disappointed lately. Prices have increased but quantity has dropped drastically.

Was in for a little ladies get away. Stopped at the casino. Had super at the restaurant. I had the hot hamburger 🍔 and it was only $11.50 which tasted fine. Until it didn't later in the evening. For 4 days. I ws not in good shape in my belly. But all in all the visit would've been good.Would be back again

I’m really sad about this. I wanted so badly to leave a 5 star but we ordered prime rib medium rare was served to us well done and grey. Sent it back because that’s just nasty lol. (It’s also a super thin cut almost like a slice of roast beef)Switched it for the NY steak it was better but not great…. The chef still over cooked it. And it was super inconsistent (some bites ok and others well done) one side was cooked more than the other. I didn’t want to sound like a complainer and send it back again so I just ate it and said thank you. We were both really disappointed. It was our date night and was really looking forward to a bloody (actual bleeding lol) steak. The only reason I’m leaving a 3 star is because the waitresses were so nice and had excellent service. But the chef really over cooks the meat. Hope the chef improves next time because I really wanted to leave a super positive review. The live music was great and bartenders were also wonderful. Wish I could give a 5 star. Maybe next time if the food improves.

Good burger, great gravy. The sound is almost completely turned off on the slot machines, To keep the near century old clientele happy. This place feels like a mortuary... Of course the games are tight, and if you like a casino with all the excitement of the library, this is your place..

We went here for the restaurant, not the gambling. The food was excellent and price is very reasonable. Good variety on the menu. Highly recommended.

The restaurant food was good (not great, but good) ! The wait staff were wonderful, tho,... very kind and attentive!I'm not one who frequents casinos, so don't know how they rate amongst others. I can say that it was clean and seemed well maintained .... a bit *dated*, perhaps, in terms of decor.

Lori Schmidt — Google review

We met some friends for breakfast at the casino. The breakfast special is $8.00 and was delicious. And the server kept the coffee coming!! That's something that doesn't happen much anymore! Will definitely return!

Kathy Dorchak — Google review

I have to admit it’s been more than 2 yrs since we stopped there due to pandemic, but my wife, daughter, son in law ,myself went here bout 7 pm for supper. My son in law ordered chicken stir fry with fine noodles. He got his order but No chicken. I ordered a beef dip w/ fries, my daughter ordered 2 parmesan deep fried curds, they came later, & chicken wings for my wife. The deep fried curds came at 2 different times, son in law got his chicken fried stir fry. Then came wife’s wings, which she couldn’t eat cause not fully cooked & my beef dip was tasty w/ gravy & beef dip sauce however it was roast beef loaded w/ grisliest beef ever. We were not impressed. Pity it’s gone so downhill. I never finished my meal & my wife never finished hers. The prices were still reasonable but quality suffered. You don’t eat eat uncooked chicken. We hope we can attend this great restaurant & casino again & find no deficiencies. Photo doesn’t show raw bones w/ckn wings. However, hopefully a large improvement due. It will be a while before we try it again sadly.

Historic Sites

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is a picturesque outdoor space that seamlessly blends Canadian and Japanese landscaping styles, featuring water elements, forests, and meadows. Located adjacent to Henderson Lake Park in Lethbridge, this garden was designed by an architect hailing from Osaka and built by artisans from Kyoto as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Japan and Canada. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the serene surroundings or partake in cultural events such as tea ceremonies, Sumo Sumo Sundays or yoga classes.

I have to say this is most amazing garden Ive seen in Canada. it very well represent Japanese garden design cues. The little streams and the little temple, plus some bonsai. really is very relaxing while walking through the garden. The pavilion will held different event by weekdays and weekends. our today Monday is showing the Japan martial arts. We so pleasing can find here and it all worth the price. 5 star recommend

What a wonderful afternoon we spent meandering through the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden. No rush! We took it slow in a zen like fashion. The beautiful scenery enticing us to sit and relax. Listening to the water falling and making it's way through the garden. With our entrance fee we received a choice of strawberry or mocha cookie with mocha iced tea or orange juice. Very yummy! If you stop in Lethbridge, definitely go check this out!! On the way put we checked the gift store! Lots to see and buy 🙂

Visited Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden recently, it’s an awesome place! So calm and pretty, decorated with colourful lights. Staff is super nice and the garden looks great. Must visit for a chill time.

Very peaceful and beautiful walk, very reasonably priced. I look forward to their new building being completed and going back to check that out!!Advertised guided tours and were short staffed the day we went so no guided tours, that's the only reason they lost a star. There was a wedding there the day we went and that was pretty cool to see all set up, it was mostly unintrusive to our experience and they were also respectful. To the newly weds Congrats!

Ryan Corbett — Google review

Zen garden. Staff is super friendly and garden is well maintained. A good 2 hour drive from Calgary. Best time to visit is from 1st week of June to Mid August. Also has water park and a lake adjacent to it. Only takes an hour to get complete tour. Tea ceremony is performed on Sundays (though not sure).

Pratik Gajjar — Google review

Nice enough gardens, but veri lacking in colors. For the admission cost, we were disappointed. If it weren't for the small drumming show we would have been gone in less than 30 minutes. And the rules are a little ridiculous. Don't walk on the grass and rocks. YOU MUST STAY ON THE PATHS . They need to improve the scenery a little.

Bob T. — Google review

A good place to visit a light show with family and friends as a relaxed night out. Don't expect big and fancy things. They do provide complimentary drinks and cookies :)

Rajesh RJZ — Google review

Such an amazing garden. We walked out of there feeling relaxed, serene, calm and mellow. The tea ceremony was a delight to watch with lots of interesting history. This garden was designed beautifully and worth the small admission fee. This is not a botanical garden tho. The trees, landscape and water features are gorgeous and just to sit and listen and go through the garden slowly and experience the hide and reveal aspects is fun.

Greg Cole — Google review

The gardens were beautiful!I took more videos then pictures and am unable to upload them.Everything was very well maintained. The trees and bushes were well groomed and soo cute!Make sure you stay on the path and don't pick up the rocks. The staff was very friendly.Would love to come back in different seasons of the year to see the leaves change to fall colors.

Misty Swimmer — Google review

The perfect place for a staff Christmas party and then grab a hot chocolate to go see the lights. The drummers were excellent too! Fun to ring the bell. There needs to be a bench or two where people can stop and rest as people in our group had mobility issues but still loved the walk.

Zeke News — Google review

Quick and easy to check out, wouldn't take more than an hour, but you will never want to leave the place. Its beautiful, calm and refreshing. Well maintained and worth a visit. Tickets are cheaper after 5 pm and please note that the tickets are sold in the visitor center located outside the garden. There is a bell which you can ring. The staff are really friendly. Rest rooms are located in the tea house.

Jose Cyriac — Google review

I had a great visit early in the morning when there was only staff there. I would highly recommend visiting at an off-peak time. The garden is small but peaceful and very green. It would not be the same experience if busy. Despite a miscommunication in ticket prices by the ticket staff, I had a good visit and would come again. The operations manager was friendly and helped clear up the issues by email. Do ring the bell, it is surprisingly easy to do so and create a loud sound. Very fun.

This place is must do when in Lethbridge. Especially for the winter festival of lights display. The Cafe and restaurant are very clean and bright. The washroom has to be one of the cleanest in the city.Lots of parking and it's free.

Channel 33 with Spongie — Google review

Always a delight to visit the gardens. This year we took part in a Sake Tasting (highly recommend) and enjoyed the festival of lights. There's a great gift shop on site.

P K — Google review

We enjoyed the serenity of the gardens as they were meant to be serene. The walk along the paths and the trees were very relaxing. We went through the building on site and a young lady Noreve took the time to help us make origami birds. She also explained to us that if you make one thousand of the birds you get good luck and happiness. While we were there we got to write down a wish on a piece of paper and it was tied to a tree. We are planning another visit but either in the spring when the trees are blooming or the fall when the trees change their colours. Otherwise an enjoyable visit.

If you are looking for a tranquil little space in the city, then go on down the the Japanese Gardens. It is small but beautiful. Well maintained and worth a visit. Relax on a bench or join the yoga groups that are there. Looking forward to the winter light display I was told all about!

Specialty Museums

The Fort Museum, established in 1957, is a significant site dedicated to preserving the history of the NWMP and First Nations People. It proudly hosts the world-famous NWMP Musical Ride since 1973. The museum offers informative displays showcasing the history of the NWMP/RCMP and their way of life in the rugged western frontier. Visitors can also enjoy interactive experiences such as climbing towers, petting animals, and experiencing live music during the musical ride.

This place must be one of your bucket list when you go to Macleod. Everything feels realistic in here. Our whole family enjoyed the museum as well as the musical ride

Bely Thing — Google review

An enjoyable afternoon. Got to see the Musical Ride and learned some very interesting history about our country and aria we live in.

Good museum and musical ride experience at The Fort Museum. I visited last week, and had a great time. Lots of well curated historical displays. I highly recommend paying the extra charge for the musical ride. I got there at 9AM and stayed until the end of the musical ride at about 10:30AM.

John B. — Google review

Very friendly staff and lots of informative exhibits. If you want to see the Musical Ride - they do not perform Mondays and Tuesdays (as of July, 2023). I would recommend 2 hours for your visit.

Ryan Smith — Google review

Lovely place for adults and kids 👍 Kids were amazed by the horse attack show 👏🙌 The history is alive there: true fort, true rooms, true atmosphere....feels like some 18th century captain with his wife are going to come in, sit on the porch, drink some tea....A must see gem of Alberta 💕💕💕

Elena Shevchenko — Google review

On a whim we ended up in Fort McLeod and found the Fort by accident. It was super fun. Great displays, well maintained exhibits and buildings and the musical ride was an unexpected surprise. We enjoyed our visit very much!

This place is awesome. Such a great history lesson. Exhibits are very informative and lots of neat things to see. Staff are amazing here and very helpful and friendly. My lil one really liked climbing the towers, petting the goats and horses and really enjoyed the music that went with the musical ride. Would definitely take him there again.

Randy Hynes — Google review

I wished I had more time to take in the exhibits. I already look forward to coming back and look some more. There is so much information, art, antiques and historical wisdom - take your time while on site.

This is a part of Alberta's and Canada's history that should not be missed if you are in the area. The museum has several displays about the history of the NWMP/RCMP that are informative and eye opening. There are also several displays that demonstrate how these men lived and worked in the rugged western frontier. If you go take the time to take in the musical ride. Though smaller in numbers they do a good job demonstrating the skills the mounted members needed to learn and demonstrate to be on the Musical Ride.

James Conner — Google review

Awesome. There were actors giving tours to school children when we went, so it was a bit crowded and noisy, however that did little to detract from the great museum. There was first nations displays (which was our prime focus!) However this museum was primarily focused on the North West Mounted Police and their first post in this area.

Lana Thompson — Google review

First we went thru the museum which is really neat, lots of history here that’s for sure. Next was the Musical Ride which was very interesting, definitely worth the extra fee to see that! Very friendly staff on site as well.

Sights & Landmarks

Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located approximately 70 kilometers west of Lethbridge, Alberta. The site is dedicated to preserving the Plains Buffalo culture that has lasted for over 6,000 years and features an interpretive center showcasing the Blackfoot Indigenous culture. This cultural landmark tells a story of resourcefulness and ingenuity as the Blackfoot people hunted buffalo by using cliffs near Fort Macleod.

Wonderful museum for a great history lesson. Exhibits are amazing and offers a great history lesson for everyone. Lots to see and the trails are nice for a little hike. Wildlife can usually be seen on your hike. A nice day trip for the family

Randy Hynes — Google review

Really interesting historical and cultural site with artifact, Films, educational displays and a walk to the jump. This year there was no cafe which was unfortunate. The gift shop could be much better in terms of variety of items available too. Guided tours would be a good option if someone wanted to pay extra for that. As a local, I would suggest adding new attractions each year like concerts, guest speakers, interactive theatre, touring cultural displays like museums do. It is a must-see for travelers passing through and locals if you haven’t visited it. The stories and layout are very good. You can also save $ using your CF1 card.

Laurie Mitchell — Google review

Through landscapes, exhibits, and diverse programming, you will learn about the cultural significance of this cliff to the Plains People. There is an area where you can walk through the plains, it’s stunning ( 1.2 kilometre hiking trail beneath the cliff ) While you walk through you will notice different flowers, sage and berries. The exhibits inside are very educational. I would allow at least two hours to fully capture the full experience.

Lina Huine — Google review

A sacred part of Canada's past is preserved right here in Alberta and is something all Canadians need to experience. Do I take time now to describe every aspect of what a visit is like or urge every single person out there to make the trip to see and experience this extraordinary place. Staff are friendly and helpful. Facility is incredibly clean and very well organized. Absolutely tons of berries along the interpretive trail. TIPS: sunblock. Comfortable shoes for the interpretive walk. Do not take the first exit up a dirt road towards the tipi. Keep driving. Saw a few people head up there mistakenly. There is a huge sign at the entrance. People with physical disabilities, or other metabolic issues should be dropped off up top before parking down the hill in designated parking. It is a bit of a slog to get up the hill from there to the center.

J B — Google review

I visited Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site on a weekday in early July and sent several enjoyable hours there. This was such a worthwhile place to stop. The interpretive centre's displays and films were first rate! The lower trails outside were easy to follow and navigate. Coming across a pair of Yellow Bellied Marmots sunning themselves on a rock was a real bonus. One marmot took off but one curious fellow stuck around for quite awhile as long as I kept perfectly still and kept my distance..MY post would not be complete without sharing some flowers too. This wild rose grew very close to the ground and the petals are paler than the bush variety. The hill side bushes were mostly Saskatoons and chokecherries and they were loaded with berries just waiting to ripen.

Elaine Kethler — Google review

Great place for a quick side trip, fellow RV campers told us about it so we stopped in as it wasn’t too far out of our way. It has a great interpretive Center with 7 levels built into the hill side. The exhibits and video are excellent along with the short hike. Well worth the $15 admission.

Darren Cyca — Google review

What an amazing place to stop in and see. A very unique piece of history to learn about and see first hand. You climb stairs to the top and see the cliff then come back in and work your way down. Learning all about the history of the jump and indigenous culture. There is even a cool video, that is free to see, that is a reenactment of the buffalo jump being used. How it worked and some of the roles people had when it came to preparing the meat and catching the bison. I would 10/10 recommend stopping. The staff are so friendly!!! We even had a chance to ask a couple questions that we had to one of the staff working there. Incredible location.

Kathleen Freeman — Google review

A world class museum! The history and artifacts along with the cultural guide give an excellent history of the Blackfoot people and the buffalo hunt.

Cameron Campos — Google review

One of the most amazing places I have been to in Canada - so much history in one place, it's truly amazing. For context, this location has been in use for longer than the Great Pyramids have existed for.Talk to the staff as you walk in, as they'll explain the best way to experience the tour (head all the way to the top of the building so you can complete the cliff side walk first, and then complete the floors in the museum from top to bottom. Was really impressed with the show they played in the theatre as well, surprisingly good for something that is "free" after admission. Afterwards you can walk the bottom trail to experience another perspective). There is ample free parking on site, along with washrooms with a water station.

Andrew Deegan — Google review

Great experience. Lots of information and a better understanding of indigenous people's in the area over thousands of years. The interactive displays and movies fully explained process of Buffalo jumps, which I didn't know before. Highly recommend stopping in. Takes a good couple hours to take it all in.

Adam Calver (rearinghonda) — Google review

Very educational with information about the Buffalo Jump and the Indigenous peoples. A unique museum layout that is fitting for the theme. You get a great view of the plains when you get to the top of the museum.

Patplace88 — Google review

This is a great experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who is travelling nearby or anyone who has grown up in this area. I loved the people here who gave their time to share their culture and stories. I recommend the film and spend a bit of time outside. If you can definitely plan to visit during the dancing or if there is a special presentation or guest.

We have been here now twice and learn something new everytime. This past family day we were happy to experience the addition of extra interpreters, storytellers, and Birds of Prey on display at the site.Take your time and bring snacks. I noticed a lot of people on Google saying HSIBJ does not allow guide dogs. We saw a service dog in the building, but like any other museum, I'm assuming that you have to prove they are a real service dog.We will be back to experience the museum in the summer. A special thanks to Donovan, Quinton, and Conrad for sharing knowledge and being so welcoming today.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site with a lot of informative exhibits. Make sure you watch the feature film in the theater. I would recommend 2 hours for your visit. It is a 7 level museum experience but there are elevators to facilitate if you are mobility challenged.

Ryan Smith — Google review

I've been wanting to stop here for decades and finally made the time. A great display of native history. Posted interpretive plaques throughout the park and along the trail did a great job of explaining the significance of this location. A great little walk.

Brian Roth — Google review

Well done site. The exhibits inside the building were well done and very interesting. The access to the upper cliffs was well planned out. No long hike to get there. An elevator ride and a couple flights of stairs. Well worth the trip. The story behind the name was worth reading, and very unusual. Highly recommend.

Mike Stark — Google review

Absolutely wonderful. The view was incredible, the staff were very helpful and the entire museum was just fascinating. My son and friend had never been before, both of them enjoyed it immensely.

Rachel Miller — Google review

Such a beautiful and informative site! We thoroughly enjoyed the museum displays and the walking trails. Be sure to watch the 15 minite movie in the museum theater, it was very informative and well done! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly!

K Watt — Google review

This is THE place to understand how the Blackfoot people hunted for the bison (Buffalo) and how they shared their blessings with the community, how everyone helped each other to make it possible to survive the winters. This is an absolutely amazing museum, with all the pertinent information on display. The structure is a brilliant piece of architecture. We watched the film which was done well and we were lucky enough to join a guided tour by a Blackfoot leader.Outside, one will be able to see the exact place where the buffalos (bisons) jumped off.I’d say 2 hours in this place would be the minimum if you’re really interested in the details. They have real stuffed buffalos (bisons) inside the museum situated in a high location so the viewer can appreciate what it was like for the animals at the edge of the “cliff”This museum is highly recommended, not to be missed!

The Vulcan Tourism & Trek Centre is a must-visit destination, whether or not you're a Star Trek enthusiast. The center features carefully curated displays and an impressive collection of memorabilia spanning multiple generations of the iconic series. Visitors can explore exhibits highlighting women's roles in space and even sit in the Captain's chair. The knowledgeable and passionate staff add to the experience, while the well-maintained visitor center boasts an array of signed items and unique merchandise for purchase.

Took my parents and son to visit and it was fantastic! The staff member working was very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about Star Trek! The visitor centre was very well kept and had an impressive amount of memorabilia. Lots of items signed by stars and fun items for purchase. Drove through town and saw a large mural featuring some Star Trek cast. The streets lights were little ships! Definitely recommend stopping in Vulcan!

DessieJ — Google review

This was an amazing place to check out, even if you aren't a Star Trek fan. The curators put a lot of care and effort into the displays and have a lot of neat memorabilia. There is a nice section highlighting women's roles in space which was thoughtfully crafted. There is multiple generations of Star Trek stuff to entice any fan into visiting. My kids hadn't heard of Star Trek before but loved the displays and especially the Captain's chair. This stop far exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the people who made it such a great experience.

Paulo Coelho — Google review

We were passing through Vulcan and decided to stop at the Star Trek tourist stuff. The Enterprise was well kept and to our disappointment the Tourist center was only opened on the weekend. As a kid I loved the original series and will be back to see the display of memorabilia. What we looked at was great. A little repair needed for the photo sign. Overall worth the stop.

Kenneth Tchir — Google review

The family had so much fun, we really enjoyed the museum and all the sites across town.Made such a great birthday!

Tyler Smith — Google review

The receptionist was kind and friendly. The shop had good selection of memorabilia and spots to take fun photos with Star Trek character cut-outs or be in the Captain's chair. We are very happy we stopped.

Brenda Duggan — Google review

Some great Star Trek nostalgia. A little gift shop. Friendly staff. A must if you are a Trekkie to visit if you are nearby.

Tina S — Google review

This is easily one of the the coolest visitor centres you could visit anywhere. The staff are amazing there’s so much cool stuff to look at from the costumes to the displays to the solar system model from the ceiling. On top of that there’s lots of cool other things in the back and you could take awesome pictures. Live at your childhood fantasies in this space station, and don’t forget to pick up a pair of authentic Vulcan ears!

Darryl S — Google review

Not sure what I was expecting, but just walking in the door was a trip to space. So much cool stuff to look at! Even a souvenir shop! There's a picnic spot and across the street a little park along the highway. A friendly staff person. It was well worth the stop.

Diana Riley — Google review

Stop on by and see over a half century of Star Trek merch. It brought back a lot of memories to see items from my youth and to marvel at how much Trek is out there. There's a nice tribute now to Nichelle Nichols. A library of books is available to browse and you can take home your favs for a donation. The bathrooms were good. Don't forget to tale a stroll and see the flagship of the Federation.

Anthony Imbrogno — Google review

We recommend that every good Trekkie take in the sights in Vulcan, Alberta. A lovely young lady was hired on for her first summer job at the reception desk. Very clean bathrooms and lots of options for travel gifts.

Kathleen Moors — Google review

They are open during Covid. Not a very big exhibit but packed with signed photos, real life size action figures, cardboard cutouts, collectibles, some early settler history, and a cute gift shop. Not to mention that staff is very friendly and informative.Definitely, should stop by and check it out

Dace Sevcuna — Google review

Must visit for Star Trek lovers! They have a lot of original Star Trek content up to the Kelvin timeline movies, but nothing with any of the new Star Trek franchises from Discovery on. Also lots of Town of Vulcan Star Trek themed merch. You can get a green screen image printed with you on the bridge up to 45 min before they close.Love that there is also a short real-history display of the town. The town also hosts Vul-Con, so I will have to come back!

Located in Nanton, the Bomber Command Museum of Canada is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The museum showcases three WWII bombers and various training aircraft, along with aviation art, informative videos, and archives. Visitors can explore the well-maintained displays and aircraft while enjoying fascinating films and library materials accessible through the museum's website. Additionally, the museum offers picnic tables in the adjacent park for a relaxing break.

This is located in Nanton, and it's a museum dedicated to Canada and Canadian heroics during World War II. Kids usually have an amazing time here, and it is worth supporting Canadian bravery and ingenuity during one of the most perilous times in world history.

The planes they have are great for the everyday visitor or the aviator.Plus you can see & talk with the team actively restoring one.Plus they aren't just sjow pieces but the engines start & run.Tom Cruise would be excited with the rarity & so should you

The museum is a must-see if you're a WWII enthusiast or if you're into the history of Aviation. The museum has lots of artifacts and history that you could spend a good part of the day. Of course the main attraction is the Lancaster bomber.

I'm an American. Been to lots of museums like this one. It was great. My nephew is 10 and a huge WWII nerd. Has his own books and plane magazine with him. The staff was amazing and the planes were great. Couldn't recommend it more.

Well this was a great surprise.Came to Nantoon to visit family and was told about this museum. And that they have a Lancaster Bomber on site And that the do an engine run from time to time And that's right Friday night engine run it was awesome. I didn't get to see much of the museum but bought some cool souvenirs.I was in awe of the massive engines and the sound. Made me remember the Men and Women who fought for our freedom.Lest we Forget ❤️🇨🇦🇬🇧

Fee is by donation of your choice. Be generous. The museum requires tremendous maintenance. All displays and aircraft are in superb condition.Films from archives that are not seen outside the museum. Library material can be viewed via their website. Fascinating films in many locations throughout the museum.Interesting photographs and quick to read displays. The display designer is talented! Picnic tables in the park next to the hanger.

Aspen Crossing is a unique tourist destination that offers train tours with themed events such as train robberies and Sunday brunch. In addition to the exciting train excursions, guests can also enjoy camping in their RV or tent, or stay in a luxury train caboose for a truly one-of-a-kind experience. The campground is available year-round and features family-friendly amenities like a flower garden, pigpen, chicken coop, and lagoon.

Honestly the best place ever to camp! I don't know if I can put it into words .. we came last year and we were on the new side which is absolutely beautiful! And super close to the swimming area and massive store. Those alone blew my mind. Came camping tonight with an incredible spot on the original side and the trees and spacing is so nice! Also the bathrooms are the nicest bathrooms I have ever seen at a campground.. you could basically eat off the floor. This campground is a true gem. I want to keep it all to myself but I know other campers will appreciate this amazing set up. There's something for everyone to do and it's so well kept. I'd give it 100 stars if I could.

The Polar Express has long been a beloved family tradition in our family, but not anymore. We were so disappointed by our experience tonight. It seems to have gone down hill and the cut backs on staffing really detracted from the experience. The train was an hour late, which is a big deal when you have little kids. They tell you to come 45 minutes early in the confirmation email so many families were stuck waiting for nearly two hours. The waiters used to put on a fun show when they served the hot chocolate but not tonight; we had 2 waiters frantically trying to pour hot chocolate for the entire train car. They play the story over the speaker but it was so quiet, no one realized it was even playing and despite trying to listen, couldn’t. I asked if the volume could be turned up so the guests could hear, this did not happen. The windows were completely frozen over so you couldn’t see out the car. Not Aspen Crossing’s fault, however, they came and handed out window scrapers AFTER the train left the North Pole and we were on our return home. Would have been nice if they had the foresight to do this at the start of the ride so the kids could have seen the scenes along the way and Santa and the elves at the North Pole. My kids walked out tonight not wanting to go back next year. I’m so disappointed writing this review because I have always loved and recommended the Polar Express experience, but I won’t be doing that anymore. I feel like it is now completely over priced for what they are providing.

This is a 5 star campsite! The amenities are amazing - clean bathrooms, fully stocked store, restaurant, ice cream and you can get it all delivered right to your site. The prices are completely reasonable and I loved the booze selection + local food options for purchase (meats, fresh baked bread). The parks are great, there’s a swimming lagoon and beach, also a super fun scavenger hunt for the kids. The staff is amazing too. They delivered ice and fire wood w no delivery charge. We did the twilight train tour on Friday night. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Definitely not a high end fancy experience, it’s rustic but still awesome. The live musician in the bar car was great, as well as the history lessons on the area. The kids loved it, the adults danced and drank and watched a prairie. sunset. It was cute sitting out at our campsite watching the Saturday night train robbery show. Can’t wait to go back. I hope they keep up this 5 star experience

Kristen Lightfoot — Google review

This place has been on my bucket list and did not disappoint! SUPER friendly staff - we checked out both stores, did the retro train ride and stayed in the Northern Alberta Caboose. Got some goodies at the store, the train ride was so fun, loved the history speaker in between meals. Food was so yummy (lick your plate clean from that sauce on the chicken) and the disco party rocked. Our Caboose was very very cool! We had a big deck, full beds for 2 couples and they were really comfortable, we had a fire and enjoyed good company. This also seems like a great spot for kids, heard lots of laughter and friendships being made.

My family booked a staycation in the caboose cabins. This was just a wonderfyl place to spend time with my family. The facilities were so clean, the people were very kind and the caboose is so cute! My 3 year old was in heaven and the dining car was such a treat. We have now made this a tradition to make a point of coming here before the Easter long weekend. Highly recommend!

Older area of the campground is nice and treed. Lots of activities to do with the kids, the owners have been constantly upgrading and adding amenities. Trains small farm animals, swimming pond, pathways, gift shop and tavern. But I would recommend the pub in town over it.

Dave Cartwright — Google review

The campground is wonderful. We have previously stayed in the original area with lots of trees, this time the new area. They have planted lots of trees and shrubs and when they fill in, it will be amazing. The sites are nice and large and very well kept. There is a swimming lagoon which looks lovely. The train excursions are also fantastic. We've been on two!

Carol Rogers — Google review

Great camp. We were in the Thornhill loop and the site were very spacious. The trees are still growing but since you are somehow far from your neighborhood it wasn't a big issue for us. Cleanest showers and toilet I have since in my few years of camping. The pond was nice too but with the summer heat and being fully packed on July long weekend the beach is not big enough to accommodate. Could extend the beach all around the pond for more space. Stepping on rocks coming out of water is not fun.Overall will recommend.

I really enjoyed Aspen Crossing. It's a pretty unique place. My daughter loves trains and I've taken her twice. We are planning to check out the Halloween train adventure this year. It's a little pricey for us but the experience is certainly worth it. So far our experience with customer service has been fairly good. Staff have been friendly, courteous and informative. I'm looking forward to our next excursion with Aspen Crossing.

Attended the Polar Express train this December, it was fun and a neat Xmas experience, although definitely more for families and kids. Booked a car and specific seats and a family of 4 was sitting in them, they didn’t make any move to switch seats when we indicated they were in the wrong ones .The train of terror at Halloween was excellent, 10/10 recommend.

Devona C — Google review

Our two kids (3 and 5) loved it! What a magical and well executed experience!!! We will definitely revisit next year! Make sure to book a dinner in the train car before the ride. The burger is delicious!

Constantine Platis — Google review

We did a Friday night Twilight tour! It was so much better than I expected! We will definitely be doing this minimum once a year! Great food, great service, great stories and information!I'll still give it five stars, my only complaint is the candy caboose didn't have a lot of candy! But I have a sweet tooth! The new loop on the campground is a little sparse for greenery, but completely understandable.

We went on the polar express with our 3 young boys. It was a fantastic experience and better than I expected. Our trip started with some train problems but the staff was great and made us feel well taken care of.I highly recommend it and will be going there again! Thanks Aspen Crossing and all the staff for the amazing experience!

Awesome campsite! Nice and clean and nice amenities. Love the restaurants and delivery services. Beautiful campsite and easy to get to. Would give 5 stars if the staff at the little convenience store were nicer. Seemed like they didn’t wanna be there and were short and gave really bad looks. Were slow on serving us icecream and was almost rushing us to pick our flavours and no nice gestures. Pretty expensive too!! Other than that the rest of staff are awesome!

Tyler Honch — Google review

10/10 recommend!! Only wish our stay was longer. The Northern Alberta Caboose was very cool to stay in and had everything we needed, it was very clean and well set up! All the staff were super friendly and helpful. What an amazing experience! Thanks Aspen Landing for making this unique experience so wonderfulThe Gordon’s

Fun place to go to during Halloween. The haunted houses were incredible. Lots of actors which made our experience memorable. Fun train ride as well. The only minus is a smell of pigs or horse poop, hard to say which one exactly that was.😅

Arina — Google review

It's a nice campground. 2 different sides, both are really well done and maintained. Not all sites have sewer in the old section, but they have a dumping station on site. We come back ever year in the fall. So beautiful when the leaves turn colors

Tracy Oetelaar — Google review

Had an amazing time on the Train of Terror! Highly recommend making the trip out. The actors, staff, facilities were first class. Very well organized, reasonable drink prices, just really a great event! Our group is still talking about it and making plans to return next year!

Stephen Tassie — Google review

*** wow, the price increase and "VIP" verbiage is astounding. we started camping here at $50/night and fell in love with the whole business and area. Now 2024 rates are $75/ night + tax...so get a hotel room basically. They have add hundreds of spots and still raise prices??! So sad, not returning for the price gouge. Do not recommend.Best campground near Calgary! Lovely, clean, well treed full service sites. So many amenities. Terrific staff. Absolutely reccomend ❤️💚

Rebecca Pinup — Google review

December 1st 2023 I took my 2 grand children and their mother on the polar express! Every minute of one full hour was full of activities, fun and magic! There were Elves of all sizes and Billy from the movie and Santa of course who brought everyone a Christmas magic bell! The chef's poured perfect hot chocolate(you keep the great mug) & did the dance just like in the movie. You could see santa's village in the north pole along the waybwith fire works, and it was truly magical. Don't tell the children anything that will happen. Let them experience. My 8 year old grandson said; "that is the most fun thing I've ever done in my life ❤️."Totally worth the price. Highly recommend the first ride at 430 & Go Early!Have a magical Christmas 🎄 ✨️

Jody Ireland — Google review

Had a great time on the Train of Terror last night. Actors where great, costumes where top notch and there where plenty of legit scares. The actors being allowed to grab and touch you added a level of immersion rarely found in haunted houses around here. Despite being able to grab you, the actors where still incredibly respectful. This was a great time and I can't wait to come back next year!

carter hansen — Google review

My husband and I have wanted to check out the Train of Terror for years now and kept putting it off, I’m glad we finally decided to do it. We had so much fun! I had the biggest smile on my face (nervous laughter lol) but the actors definitely got me a few times haha. I wasn’t sure how I felt about them being able to touch you but it heightened the experience and I ended up being glad they could. If you enjoy a good scare then this is the place to go. Left super impressed and enjoyed getting a little train ride out of it too.

Historical landmark

Bar U Ranch National Historic Site is a living museum that provides visitors the chance to experience ranching skills in a hands-on manner. The site features heritage building walks and horse-drawn wagon rides, which take you back in time to explore its two dozen buildings including a post office, corral, cookhouse, smithy, and slaughterhouse. Bar U Ranch was one of the world's largest commercial ranches at its peak in 1882 with over 160,000 acres of land.

Living in Calgary all my life, I had never stopped here …. until today. We finished camping further south and pulled in to this National Historical Site. It’s still a working ranch. But, quite small compared to the original size and scope of the ranch. Great staff who are so knowledgeable and friendly. Amazing displays in original buildings. We went for a wagon ride and learned so much history about Southern Alberta that is never taught in school! Even my 12 yr old enjoyed his time at the Bar U Ranch.

Chad Milroy — Google review

A fantastic and must visit historical site. This plays a very important role in Alberta history. I'm so happy it's available for all to visit.

Participated in a Cowboy Challenge at the ranch and was very fortunate to see and pet the buffalo each morning. Beautiful ranch

dakotagirl97 — Google review

So much to see and learn about ranching, how things were done.Staff is knowledgable and friendly and love sharing all their knowledge with everyone who visits. If you find it too much to walk they will take you by cart. You can use your Parks Canada Discovery pass to get in.

Kathy Cayenne — Google review

I didnt think I'd have much of an interest in going to visit an historical ranch, but I was def wrong. The staff were incredibly nice and knowledgeable; they even gave me tons of tips on what to do in Waterton. It was amazing learning about an important part of Alberta history that i never even thought about. Go, give yourself at least 2 hours and hope it was as fascinating to others as if was for me.

James Gully007 — Google review

I visited Bar U Ranch early in the morning, before the operating hours. The ranch appeared to hold a promise of interesting exhibits and activities. A future visit to Bar U Ranch while in the Calgary area is definitely on my agenda.

Visit the only ranch preservation site and national historic site in Canada. Free entry with a year round Canada Parks pass. The staff are super friendly and informative - thank you for preserving our history. Take a walk amongst century old ranch buildings and see (and pet) the draft horses. There's a wagon ride, too. Perfect for a day in the beautiful foothills along Cowboy Trail.

Anthony Imbrogno — Google review

They have a restored house that has lots of interesting retro packaging and items. You can go for a wagon ride to see more of the property. There's someone there that gives a talk about the history of the ranch. Very informative and worth the visit.

This is a great place to visit to complete your stampede experience. Friendly staff and a very immersive experience. Highly recommended, especially with young children. Not crowed at all and plenty of parking for RV.

Vince Lip — Google review

We got married at the Ranch October 1, 2022 and it was just AMAZING! The staff felt like family and went above and beyond to make our day one of a kind and a perfect unforgettable experience. We planned our wedding in 10 weeks, had 100 people, and they helped pull of this magical day with us with ease and you could have thought it took a year or more to plan. They worked with us to create a menu in our budget and the food was delicious and plenty. There are so many photo opportunities that we didn’t even get to use every idea and still had plenty of captures that were just spectacular and captured our vision perfectly. This location is a hidden gem and in my eyes underrated , while other Venues had a 2 year wait list and that are WAY more expensive, this location was available during 2022 and on short notice ( one of the busiest years for weddings yet according to records) . I can’t say enough good things about this venue, if you are looking for any sort of country themed wedding , you can’t go wrong with this gem. I am still in shock of how affordable it was and I literally had a wedding of my dreams that even included a horse drawn carriage that I arrived in and we used for pictures and that my guests got to ride in as well. The whole event “grand total” for the whole day didn’t even total the “minimum “ for some other venues that are comparable to this one. Hands down recommend and hands down would chose this location over and over again. I will definitely be a regular visitor here as it holds such special memories for us and to us will always be Magical.

V B — Google review

Loved the experience! Staff were super friendly and had some great conversations about the history and surrounding areas. Free entry with a National Park pass, wagon ride and super cute replicas of the homes, teepees and Alberta times. Spacious parking, water fountain for refilling your water bottle and clean washrooms, gift shop and more. Prepare to walk around the park, learn and take photos.

Claudia Ramirez — Google review

Worth the drive from calgary. The presentations are great ; the interior of the buildings are meticulously well ‘staged’ and add life to an already authentic decor. Just enough to read on the boards; lots of photos and illustrations. English only though. Nice for kids. We had 1 staff person only but she graciously did 2 presentations : the campsite and the lasso throwing. We also did the horse carriage tour (15min around the ranch). The outdoor parts of site get very hot in summer: bring hat and sunscreen. Buildings are shaded and cool.

juliette mourez — Google review

The Bar U Ranch National Historic Site should be a place on everyone’s bucket list. There is so much to learn here about Alberta’s early ranching history. The old buildings are all open and available for you to walk through. Some have lots of signage, whereas others are lacking signage. It would be neat to see more signage and have some more information on some of the people who lived and worked on the ranch over the years. A discussion of the E. P. Ranch would also probably be a valuable inclusion.Overall, the Bar U Ranch is a great place to stop and spend a few hours to learn about Alberta’s ranching history.

I visited this place with my family and it is amazing. Good parking lot area. All the farm products look fresh and very well selected. The restaurant inside is very good, it offers Mexican food and you can enjoy its flavors. The service was kind and gentle. however, as we arrived at 11:30 am we were on a waiting list for 1h +. So, it's a good idea to go there first to book lunch, continue to visit the farm and come back. I recommend it for the whole family, easy to walk. Pets are not accepted on site.

For years now we've got by the signs on the highway, thinking to ourselves "one of these days we'll have to go pick Saskatoon berries there."This year, we finally made it there, for the summer solstice fair. What a pleasant surprise!Saskatoon farm is actually a hybrid arts and crafts market, plant nursery, fruits & vegetables farm/market, cowboy themed park. And during the solstice market it was filled merchants. And to Crown it all, the view from The Cliff at the end of The village main street was beautiful.

The Christmas market was so fun! This was my first time visiting the Saskatoon Farm and what a great first experience! There were so many amazing vendors, such yummy food and great gifts (treat yourself too!) - truly something for everyone. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there, taking photos and bringing cheer. It was quite busy but the staff were very helping directing cars in the parking lots so we moved through quickly. We also bought our tickets in advance and downloaded them beforehand. Highly recommend - already looking forward to next year!

We come here several times a year. We love their food, their garden, the views, their ice cream, their veggies. They have a giant chess set that my kid loves. We have so many nice pictures and memories from here. A must go for the whole family.

Went for a drive out to the Saskatoon farm and the Christmas Market was on. Beautiful day for it. We lined up for tickets and family in front of us had a free ticket and gave it to my hubby so me such a awesome gesture!! It only cost $8.00 for adults. It wasn't overcrowded and we walked comfortably through the greenhouses. Lots of vendors price points varied. Very enjoyable. Parking was ok found a spot not too far from the entrance.

I went to the annual Spring market at the Saskatoon Farm over the weekend. The event was great. I purchased my $5 ticket in advance and so getting in was simple and straight forward. Inside the place was bustling with lots of people and vendors. I had lunch with my wife and friend at the on-site restaurant. Getting in took a while due to how busy it was (they provided a buzzer so I didn’t need to wait close by.) But once inside the service and food were top notch. The quiche was especially good and I’d highly recommend it. After lunch I spent time wondering the grounds, enjoying the interesting sights and sounds. In addition to the vendors they also had pens that included baby bunnies, ducks, and turtles. I would highly recommend Saskatoon Farm for anyone looking for a fun family adventure. I will definitely be going back.

We went for brunch. There was a wait so we had a drink on the patio. The food was good. Not as "homemade" as I'd have liked, but tasty. The sangria was good, but I felt the beer selection could have been better. But kudos for local selections! The service was outstanding.Overall, it was good value for the money and well worth the trip.We will definately return.

Such a great spot to visit with beautiful expansive views! We especially love the Fall decor and the farm animals. The restaurant has good value items. The sour dough bread and bakery items are yummy!

Ange Varda Sac — Google review

I was not sure what to expect but this place turned out to be quite amazing! It was the first time attending the spring market and there were plenty of vendors, food stalls and other activities to do. My suggestion for the next event is to provide something like a pamphlet/brochure with map to show what activities/facilities are located where!

Prabin Rokaya — Google review

Fun place for a day of activities. There’s quite a few things to check out here. Including the berry picking, the green houses, restaurant, cafe, and the nice scenery in general. I would not recommend coming when it’s a sunny 25+ degree day because you’ll get overheated pretty quick if you plan on picking the berries. Was a fun time overall, the drinks in the cafeteria style building is questionable. But the Saskatoon pies in the bakery are delicious. It was $2 per person for berry picking and each bucket is $15 regardless of weight. If you’re a family, you can combine everything into a single bucket as well.

Kristy Chen — Google review

My family and I absolutely love this place, from having a great restaurant, delicious pastries, perfect produce, a variety of plants/trees, great views and lots more. We typically go on the weekend to have breakfast at the restaurant or just the pastries, then pick up some produce, walk around, let our little one feed the bunnies, and have a coffee. My wife says this is one of her favorite places in all of Calgary, and yes this is not Calgary but close enough. I love supporting a local business like this that is so unique and has lots of great things to offer. We are loyal customers and we will continue visiting throughout the year for all the events they have.

Ignacio Ottati — Google review

Came for a repeat visit with guests from out of town. Had a good time touring the farm, picked up some fresh produce, and enjoyed brunch at the Cantina. Our waitress Amanda was great and the food was delicious!

Brent Scott — Google review

Went here in a group of 4 for Saturday lunch and farm experience. It’s a great place if you’re looking to spend a bright sunny day in farm and have a feast alongside. There was a 30 minute waiting for table but you could very much spend that time roaming around, checking out their bakery, shops and farmers market. In food, we tried Yam fries, Onion rings, Vegetarian tacos, burrito and enchiladas. Out of these, I would recommend Yam fries, enchiladas and tacos. Burrito got soggy with its filling, so it was not as enjoyable as others. Overall a good experience, however one-time.

I made a stop here today while on my vacation from the states and what a delightful place this is! Everything was so beautiful, the restaurant has excellent food and the Saskatoon pie is heavenly! Whoever was working the counter when I checked out today with the pie, thank you! She was such a sweet and friendly woman and I appreciated that. I will definitely make another stop here before I go home to take some stuff back with me! Highly recommend everyone check out this gem in the Foothills!

The Saskatoon Farm truly is a hidden gem nestled just off the highway. It encompasses a charming restaurant, a delightful bakery, and a sprawling farmers market. During our visit, we had the pleasure of exploring the diverse offerings, which included a pack of frozen waffles, delectable muffins, and a bounty of fresh produce including succulent blueberries and cherries. The abundance of vegetables was truly impressive. When the weather is on your side, taking a leisurely stroll around the grounds makes for a wonderful afternoon activity. The restaurant primarily boasts an array of mouthwatering Mexican dishes, peppered with a few American options. Our taste buds were treated to a delightful symphony of flavors, and the beverages were equally delightful. Although it's worth noting that the drinks arrived lukewarm without ice. If you prefer a chilled drink, I recommend requesting some ice to enhance your experience.Beyond the culinary delights, Saskatoon Farm is a multifaceted establishment that combines the allure of an arts and crafts market, a plant nursery, a farm market overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables, and even a charming cowboy-themed park. Our visit coincided with the solstice market, where merchants gathered to create a vibrant and lively atmosphere. In sum, Saskatoon Farm is a true gem that pleasantly surprised us with its multifarious offerings. Whether you're seeking delectable treats, a leisurely stroll, or an eclectic market experience, this is the perfect destination to satiate your senses and enjoy a great day out

Lovely place with lots of beautiful views and friendly people. Farmers market has wide choice of freshly picked produce, the bakery has lots of amazing pastries.Kids also loved to watch local animals

Luba Miniailenko — Google review

The freshest vegetables full of taste, delicious pastries from the bakery, beautiful spot to walk around on a sunny day. Bring your kids or go for a date, and look out for special events - we went for the fall harvest days.

My family have been coming here for the past few years... without me! Today, I finally got to do so. It reminds me of Davidson farm in b.c. but a smaller one. I think I like this better because it's more intimate. All the old stuff they got on displays just appeals to me.I could imagine how festive it is during summer and Christmas time.

Cheryl Ann — Google review

Very cute Christmas Market! Many vendors to shop at and plenty of stops to take cute pictures! I'd love to come back in the Summer and see what else they offer!

Emily — Google review

This farm is just outside of the city, We visited the farmers market, which had local vendors offering many goods, like honey, spices, and art ...you need to check it for yourself. The farm offers delicious Saskatoon pies, it's a must when you visit and of course you can get fresh vegetables for your dinner.

Okotoks Erratic, located in the town of Okotoks, is a massive glacial boulder that weighs around 16,500 tonnes and stands at 9 meters tall. It is believed to have been left by glacial activity thousands of years ago and is considered a remarkable sight and an iconic landmark of Okotoks. The rock landed in its current location during a rockslide between 10,000 to 30,000 years ago.

Good pit stop place. Nice short walk around an impressive rock which seems very out of place at first, until you read the fascinating story of how it arrived from the Jasper area thousands of years ago. Washrooms are clean.

Kelly — Google review

Small walk; beautiful views; unique history. It’s a nice spot for a quick walk, or a picnic. Fun to watch the gophers. Has a ramp, so stroller/wheelchair friendly.

Dominique McKay — Google review

Nice rock. Impressive how it has moved all the way from Jasper. Nice little thing to see on the way. Not a lot of people.

Rasmus Birk Knudsen — Google review

Such an amazing phenomenon! Hard to believe it was carried All the way from Edith cavall by Jasper and deposited here on the prairie in by okotoks. A beautiful piece of rock!!

Darlene Swan — Google review

I freaking loved this place. Its sooo peaceful and serene. Its so close to calgary i cant believe i have never been there before. Great history behind it, came all the way from Jasper national park on a glacier!!!!!!

Very cool spot! It doesn't take long to explore but I think it's worth stopping at especially if you are in the area. There was also a ton of Prairie Dogs roaming around which was very exciting.

Victoria Gee — Google review

Really nothing to hike or do other than just see this rock. But relaxing. Just chill and enjoy nature.

Sunset is an amazing time to visit this UNESCO site. Not only are there fewer people, which tends to lead to more wildlife, but the colours are phenomenal!

Crystal Bell — Google review

was able to capture these astonishing stars and the sky was really magical. although we went at night, we couldn’t see the mountains but we stayed there for few minutes and it was really peaceful. ☮️

Garry Castro — Google review

Well, what can you say! It’s a pretty big rock.In the middle of a plain, so out of place yet so beautifully in place. There are information boards about how it got there all the way from Jasper! A short visit location but you can just chill there. A 10 min walk around the rock. Good parking options and historically impressive! Feels good to have visited here!P.s Sorry the photos are dark, we got there after 10.30 PM.

Amazing quartzite mountain pieces moved all the way from Jasper area by glaciers! This is a sacred First Nations site, please do not climb on it!! (This is posted on the signage)

Nature’s wonder.. unbelievable to think how such a big rock travelled such a large distance.. looks magical during the sunset.. Ample parking nearby..

As a climber, this was definitely on my list to visit. Worth it. Bring ur climbing shoes and chalk, and if u have a pad, you can spend a good couple hours here.

What to do within half an hour of Calgary❓If you pass by this town, you must come and touch the magical flying rock of the Rocky Mountains~✔️ Although Okotoks Erratic is a small attraction, this rare giant rock is believed to be left by glacial activity thousands of years ago, making it a remarkable sight and a iconic landmark of Okotoks❗️✔️ Okotoks Erratic is a massive glacial boulder, towering at 9 meters and weighing 16,500 tons, resembling a mini version of the Stonehenge!✔️ "Prairie Dog Haven": It's full of cute prairie dogs 🐿️, just like the real-life version of the "Whack-a-Mole" game we played in the park as kids. They pop out of their burrows, munch on food, and stand up to watch the crowd, super adorable 😍✔️ "Hiking Adventure": You can head to the Big Rock Trail 🏞️, meandering along the river's edge. Along the way, you'll enjoy expansive views of the prairie and even see a small horse ranch 🐎.

Tikoko — Google review

Parking, easy little walk if you have kids and wheelchair accessible. If you come in, the winter path is icey.

Distillery

Food & Drink

Eau Claire Distillery is Alberta's first craft distillery, located next to the Chuckwagon Cafe. They use locally sourced grains and water from the Rockies to create their award-winning spirits like Parlour Gin and EquineOx. The tasting room offers a classy experience with tap beer and unique co*cktails. Customers praise the attentive service provided by staff members like Alantra, Sarah, and Ciara.

They definitely capture the Speakeasy vibe here. This converted town hall building has interesting design features including a circular staircase and high rounded ceilings.I enjoyed the unique flavours of my “7 Deadly Gins” flight of 4.

Laura Lee Petsnick — Google review

First time visiting, which is criminal considering how long they've been here. Phenomenal experience, the staff were very friendly and inviting. The drinks were superb, as was the spinach dip they brought out. Started with a flight of spirits, had an Old Fashioned, and ended with a Mojito. I'll be visiting again, definitely.

Korey Cryderman — Google review

The Eau Claire Distillery was such an incredible place to have our wedding!Jen and Mallory went above and beyond to make our wedding go off without a hitch.Jen managed the entire event: set up, schedule, flow, bartending, electronics and take down.I cannot recommend the staff enough, everyone was professional and friendly. We were lucky to have London create personalized co*cktails for our wedding. He made it very difficult to choose a co*cktail, as all of them were delicious. The venue is incredibly unique and offers so many different elements. From the private speakeasy, to the beautiful covered patio, the distillery and the whisky room. These all made for amazing photo opportunities.I cannot recommend this venue enough. I’m still dreaming of our magical wedding here!

Jordan Mensink — Google review

I am so sorry to write this review. I like to support local but we had the worst experience at the Mother's Day tea event at the Speakeasy. The event was poorly organized, we waited outside for 20 minutes while watching boxes of store bought appetizers go in for us. Finally the door was opened to see the trays of sad cakes and cookies haphazardly stacked. Presentation was awful. We waited patiently for our drinks order and that was a challenge as well. Ordering a pot of tea!!! was extremely difficult and the staff member had to have a meeting if it was possible. While waiting for the drinks, another staff member came by to stack croissant on the precarious tower. We asked if we would be provided plates, she replied she had no idea. Finally paper plates and prewrapped plastic cutlery showed up. My son tore into an uncooked doughy croissant which was the final straw. The price point of this was comparable to Bow Valley Ranchouse or the Ridge in Okotoks. Quite frankly don't waste your money. It would take alot to get us back through the doors ever again.

What a terrific surprise...excellent interesting vibe....completely unexpected find, so happy to have enjoyed food and beverages here.Staff were tremendously helpful, friendly. The Ceaser "flight" was fantastic.. Nachos the best ever and the Chacuterie Board was a hit. We will definitely come again.

This is an amazing find in Turner Valley. Today we found the Speakeasy Bar and what a delightful surprise. An extensive selection of drinks and great food. The distillery itself has a wide selection of gin whiskey vodka etcNow we have found this gem we will definitely be back and absolutely worth the drive and fortunately we live 15 minutes away

Lyn Dean — Google review

Very unique and pleasant atmosphere. After we were seated it took 10 minutes to get our menus. It then took another 10 minutes for our waitress to come back and take our order. I asked for a water which never came. We waited a good 15 minutes and the bartender had not even started making our drinks. Our waitress had disappeared in the back (making our food?) very disappointing as we live in the area and we’re excited to try something new. Very short staffed obviously.

Geoff Matthews — Google review

Thursday evening they hosted a pre party for the Calgary stampede. The food was excellent 👌. The staff and the band were great. The event was really fun. I highly recommend this location.

Sally Ragusa — Google review

We were absolutely delighted to find Eau Claire serving food on July 1! Our lunch was amazing and can't say enough about the wonderful co*cktails. The staff was very helpful and engaged. Keep up the great work!

Tracy Heim — Google review

It’s not often I get a $200 bill and don’t complain but this is def one of those times.Love the tap beer and the smoked old fashioneds were pretty darn good, if not a little sweet.Service was 100 %. Between the trifecta of awesomeness of Alantra (hope that is right), Sarah and Ciara? I was well looked after.Drinks are on par price wise with what you would expect from a classy establishment so no worries there.Being a local? I’m sure I will be back 😁 pardon the sauce bottle in the pic……

Mark McCullough — Google review

Found this distillery at the ‘22 Spring Meadows Christmas market; have purchased there co*cktail pre-mixed cans a couple times from local stores in Calgary. Found the booth at ‘23 Spring Meadows, picked up another 6-Pack of mixed drinks, and the new Rupert’s Whiskey Cream (so good). The woman I was speaking to on Nov 25, 2023 at the market was very friendly, provided a brief history on the company and offered me a few samples, one of them being the Whiskey Cream. Great products from a great AB craft distillery. Will make sure to make a trip out to Turney Valley in the near future.

Chris S — Google review

Had a sub par experience two years ago and was hesitant to come back.. but happy I did! Everything has changed so much, the food was great, the pricing was great and the service! Geniunely a great time and I can’t wait to be in the area again and try out their new patio. My only qualm is the plastic disposable cutlery wrapped in plastic, just feels wasteful! But otherwise, well done guys.

Ren Rishma — Google review

Family of mine live in Turner Valley & they alway rant & rave about this distillery. Since we were visiting, and they only live 1 block away, I decided to walk over. The Christmas Gin is what made me check out Eau Claire & right off the hop I was impressed. Everything about it is appealing to the eye. I would like to return in the spring/summer, when seating outside would be possible but there were happy patrons seated inside. I picked up too many & was sent back the next day to grab more for friends & family who heard about my experience. We dealt with a very lovely lady who gave us a tasting & although I didn’t get a big bottle, I did enjoy it! Definitely a HUGE selection from bottles to merch. I really loved their story & how they go about making their liquors as well as reading about all their copious awards!!!

Corissa George — Google review

We recently reserved Rupert's @ Eau Claire Distillery for an evening out with 30 people. They were so accommodating. The drinks, food, service and atmosphere were amazing. Thank you so much for hosting a wonderful evening out!! I'd highly recommend reaching out to them for your next event.

Chantel Raye — Google review

Food and drinks were great! Very reasonably priced and will be coming again. I will say the service was a bit slow considering it was not super busy (only 4-5 groups in the restaurant), this did make the experience a bit less enjoyable, but overall Eau Claire was good.

CJ J — Google review

We stopped by recently for their Winter Market, and on the way out we got a bite to eat. Just a snack, but it was taking quite a while for the food to arrive. They checked on the order without us asking, and came back shortly after... with the wrong order. We waited again, and while we were waiting they went above and beyond to compensate us for the long wait. Again unprompted by us. We were already fans of Eau Claire, but with this sort of customer service we will definitely be making a point of visiting more often.

Nature & Parks

The Heritage Park is a large open air museum that showcases Western Canada's history from the 1860s to the 1950's. The park contains a variety of historically accurate reconstructed buildings, as well as live and working exhibits of classic cars, horses and carts. There are also plenty of attractions for children including a steam engine ride and a paddlewheel tour boat.

Definitely worth getting an annual pass for a repeated visit to this museum of historical memories. Watch out for ever ready guides who will give you a detailed run down of events that resulted in the space you occupy. From automobiles to Quilts. Remarkable occurrence throughout the ages

Kimbus Ogul — Google review

This is such a fun place to bring the family! There are so many things to do here. We rode the steam train, looked at the train cars, blacksmith shop, dentist office, rode on the rides, visited the gift shop, ate donuts and cotton candy. Then there was so much more we didn't get to do because we ran out of time. There are employees everywhere in costume to help out or talk about the different buildings and things to see. Everyone was so helpful and kind! The treats were yummy and reasonably priced. This time we were here with a school trip but we've been here before with just family. Love this place! Next time we'll visit the ranch and ride the boat.

Hadn't been here since I was a kid. Had an absolute blast as an adult. My work did a year end wrap up here and it was amazing! Complete with a scavenger hunt, prizes, and amazing I mean absolutely phenomenal food!I like how they keep their history up to date, add lots of interactive shows, and manage their displays really well. It's cool to see a bunch of Canadian history all in one place. I love that they share the history of every building.I will absolutely be returning soon!

Tomas Ruhland — Google review

Can't say enough good things about this place to be honest!! What an amazing way to spend an entire day. Please make sure you have ample time when you visit this place as there are just so many things to see. I went there about 1pm and hadn't explored half the park by 5pm.The train and buggy ride was really fun. The park is beautifully built with a lot of thought and attention to detail.I'm surely going to go back a second time to make sure I get to explore more of the park.

Heritage Park in Calgary offers a nostalgic journey through Western Canada's history. With its meticulously preserved buildings, authentic artifacts, and costumed interpreters, the park immerses visitors in the past. From the steam train rides to the old-fashioned candy shops, every corner exudes charm and educational value. It's a delightful experience for families, history buffs, and anyone seeking a glimpse into Canada's rich heritage.

Such a great day out, even in the middle of winter! The buffet breakfast for 'Once Upon A Christmas' is simply the best buffet I've ever had, plus the staff are so friendly! Well worth the money. We've been going every year (except COVID in 2020 when it was closed) and we will continue to go as our family tradition.

I cannot recommend Heritage Park enough!! I'm a big fan of historic villages and this place checks every box for me. I brought my two nephews (4 and 2 years old) and they had the time of their life. Between riding the train, the amusem*nt rides, and watching the live demonstrations, we were hooked on everything! Heavily considering getting a membership because this place is just awesome!

Victoria Gee — Google review

My recent visit to the Western Canada History Park was truly remarkable. The park offers a captivating journey into the rich history and diverse cultural heritage of Western Canada. With interactive exhibits and engaging activities for all age groups, it ensures that every visitor can learn and enjoy themselves simultaneously. The knowledgeable and friendly staff were eager to share their passion for the region's past, making the experience even more memorable. The park's well-maintained grounds, coupled with stunning scenery, created the perfect backdrop for this historical adventure. I highly recommend the Western Canada History Park for anyone seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the region's history and culture.

An excellent tourist attraction for everyone particularly an exciting and exhilarating place for a family with children. The heritage park village, in the proximity to Bow river and a huge dock, consists of clean green lawns, paved walking trails, and attractive statues of various animals. It also has a train that take you around the park. There are lots of tables everywhere to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenic views and electrified visitors. Also there are shops and restaurants near the entrance where you can buy souvenirs or ice cream of your choice.I wish, the park has so much to offer, that it remained open until at least 8:00 pm in summer. Unfortunately, it closes at five, so the security guards start chasing people away from 4:30. Isn't 4:30 too early to wind up and send the enthusiastic people away in the long sunny days in Calgary?

Bharat Shah — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous. The amusem*nt park is fun for adults as well. I’d recommend wearing the comfiest shoes to walk around the park, and really get to see a lot more. If you enjoy boat rides, the steam boat is a must!

Aarti Bagh — Google review

Always enjoy our trips to Heritage Park so much! The staff are always so friendly and kind, things are kept clean, and the grounds are gorgeous. If you think you might go a few times in the season it's worth getting a season pass! Lots to do so easy to have multiple visits and have each time feel different.

Sarah Sypkes — Google review

The Alberta Day (on 2/9/2023) celebration was held here! There was a drone show on 9pm. And throughout the day there’re a lot of booths such as live music show, kid corners, food trucks for you to enjoy. Besides, it’s a good opportunity for me to enter the heritage park for free! Normally there is a fee $30-40 for each entry.

Tommy Chan — Google review

The park is an awesome idea, combining nice strolls in the open air, with historical exhibits, preserved or restored. Their summer and xmas markets are less busy than others around the city and its cool to hunt down all the locations throughout the park. the bakery is always busy, with long lines... they should really get extra staff and better distribution in nearby cafes and restaurants.

Radu Luchian — Google review

I'm not a huge fan of tourist destinations but was visiting Calgary to see my 5 year old grandchild so if course went along for the fun. If you live in Calgary and whether you have children or not this is a must. My daughter decided to apply what she paid for 4 of us that day to a yearly pass as we were leaving. So worth it! It's pricey but once you get inside everything except food is free. In summer bring a picnic as the selection of grab and go food isn't great. They do have some dine-in restaurants but we thought too much time would be wasted with a 5 year old. The small midway is delightful with 100 year old rides with fantastic story boards. After spending 4+ hours there I was ready to go back the next day to explore more. Well done Heritage Park!

Carol Price — Google review

We have the best experience exploring the park. We rode the train to go around and eat ice cream and some other sweet staff they have. It was a great fresh air visiting the farm yard and the little town around. The vintage cars are cool as well.

Great place for family and kids. It has lot of rides for all ages. The building looks very genuine. The staffs are very helpful. I would recommend everyone to visit especially people living in Calgary. Annual subscription fee is reasonable.

What a place where you really get into the past! You can feel the real Wild West and take a ride on an old train. All vintage equipment works and is in excellent condition. There's also an amazing exhibition of vintage cars that you won't see anywhere else!

It's an incredible place not to be missed on your visit to Calgary. The area has been kept like it jade been in the early 20th century and certain things have been added to raise the atmosphere of that period. You can easily spend the future day in the village as the place is huge. There is a train going around the village that you should not miss. Also, the half-hour horse ride where you will get to know the details of the place from the guide is very interesting.Make sure that you go here on a sunny day as you will be walking a lot outside.

This place is huge- it could easily fill an entire day with everything from automobile collections, pioneer life, and coal mining as well as a really well done old-fashioned midway. I enjoyed the fact everything was included in the admission. We also ate at a really nice restaurant there- the food was perfect. And if you want to ride the train, a tractor pulled cart or horse pulled carriage you are in luck! Please like this review to help me justify my senseless hobby of writing them for every place I have ever visited ;)

We visited during a weekday at the end of the season, when it was closed. This means we missed out on some of the immersion into history. Special arranges had been made for our group of 20 from Arizona! Thank you! The Guide was fantastic! She was enthusiastic, well versed in all of the details. This is a great place for imagining history!

Charles Eck — Google review

Most of the park was closed by the time I arrived so I explored the lake and walked the trail to see if I could catch a good sunset which never came 🙃 I drove 6.5 hours the day before so needed a more low key day. The next time I am in the area, I definitely want to check it out when it's open. It looks like a pretty cool spot. There was clear bottom kayaks out in the water from a tour company also.

A rare Canadian gas-powered motorised bicycle, which cost twice the price of a standard bicycle and retailed for $96 (back in 1949). Amazing 🚲to see modern-day eBikes having similar features. We also loved all the many antique vehicles in the Gasoline Alley Museum 💖

Zoo

Outdoor Activities

The Calgary Zoo is a large zoo located in the heart of the city. It is home to a variety of animals, including some endangered and rare species. The zoo also has a variety of play areas for children, as well as keeper talks throughout the day. Springtime is a popular time to visit because new animals are born!

Best place to spend a day inside the city. I liked watching penguins the most. It was like you are in a entirely different world. Watching bear accumulating leaves for making himself warm was an encouraging experience. Lions were all sleeping but it was very near to the watch glass as it was just centimeters apart. Watching gorillas playing each other was another wonderful experience. The tropical climate setting for the tropical animals is really amazing. Overall really nice experience 😎

Fantastic place to spend some beautiful times with family and see varieties of animals. They divided the zoo in different areas: Canadian, African, Asian, Prehistoric (which is really nice) based on the animal categories. Specially, the penguin place is really awesome. African rain forest is also great. Those who are interested in dinosaurs, the Prehistoric area is a must visit. Ample of parking on the north and west side of the zoo. The north parking lot is divided into three lots: A, B, and C. I think lot B is closest to the entrance. However, the north lot has a fixed daily rate of CAD 12 (which is good for people who plan to spend whole day, might not worth for people who spend only few hours). The west lot charges hourly rate, which might be good for people for short visit.

This was a really enjoyable experience. Great habitats for all the different animals, and a great variety. The gardens and butterfly house were exceptional too. We would have paid to see them on their own. So much shade, plenty of places to eat or picnic, many playgrounds and kid friendly exhibits. We caught the train from downtown. Very easy and quick.

Best zoo in Canada 🇨🇦!!!Superbly variety of special animals in this zoo, it’s really worth to visit at least once. 👌Entry ticket 🎟️ charges is $35 per person. Parking 🅿️ 🚙 charge is $13 for whole day.Penguins 🐧 section is the best one ☝️Usually 4-5 hrs can be spent here but full day is preferable. My kid really like it.It’s increasing the feather in the crown of Calgary in terms of tourism sector. 👍

I grew up going to the zoo with my grandparents and family.Over 15 years since I've been and the charm hasn't changed at all. All the expansions and additional exhibits are amazing, interactive and informative.Having staff at each exhibit helps keep the flow of strollers moving ;) (I was a part of that parade)But the staff are also keen to answer questions and engage with visitors.Lots of additional activities to do as well. Ferris wheel, parks and of course the beautiful green spaces and gardens. Will be back soon!

Nik — Google review

We really enjoyed the walk through. I feel the animals are a little laid back at this time of year. Though it was reasonably quiet still on a busy day. The parks are a fun time for the kids. When you decide to take a leisurely stroll it works well. Grateful we had the opportunity to take the kids this year. :)

Teri-Lee Minchau — Google review

Every year I make sure I get to come to this great zoo. It's well-maintained, very clean and organized. This is great for adults especially for kids. You will learn a lot. Having fun while learning. So many varieties of animals that are being showcased here. I always have fun whenever I come here.

Blik Panelo — Google review

A really amazing place to bring kids and enjoy the outing. The zoo is kept clean and well maintained. Volunteers help guide to near exhibits and explore zoos in the best possible way. Don't hesitate to ask them. Cafe options are limited but they do serve good food. Overall we enjoyed it a lot and will definitely revisit

omkar kulkarni — Google review

This zoo is wonderful. It is very large. We walked so much. The animals have lots of space and there are many zoo keepers and volunteers around to make sure the animals are taken care of. There are also additional things to manage foot traffic and crowds.

Melissa Cortes — Google review

Beautiful place, it will be great to have more spaces for animals. Like open areas for Africa. The penguins were great! The dinosaurs are great! They are renovating the Canadian part. Now… all the workers have megaphones and sometimes they are using them too much. Things that they can tell you personally they use de megaphone. I put 4 stars because of this. Thanks!

Irene sarmiento — Google review

Super fun for both kids and adults. The animals are well taken care of. My favourite part was the butterfly enclosure! There were so many gorgeous butterflies all throughout the conservatory garden ranging from different stages of life.I'd highly recommend visiting on a weekday early in the morning if you're not a fan of crowds, as this place gets extremely packed super fast.

Millie Mallard — Google review

It was a wonderful zoo. We really loved the penguins... We had a great time. Animals were active. So much to see and do. The dinosaur exhibit is fantastic. The kids LOVE it. Reasonably priced. Lots of parking. Clean restrooms. Highly recommend the Calgary Zoo. Great way to spend the day... Enjoying nature. No matter how many times I see the animals, I marvel at their beauty, ability, and strength...

My wife and I have had longtime membership to this excellent venue. We see zoo's in every city and country that we visit. Calgary is amongst the very best. Our last visit inspired a month trip to Madagascar 🇲🇬 where we saw many Lemur species and chameleon that are unique to this amazing country. I've selected a few of our Madagascar pictures. Come to the zoo to see their Lemurs and animals from around the world. It is a great place for parents and kids of all ages. I love what I call - the daily stroller brigade.

Animals look good, zoo looks clean. Sad that Dino world was closed. We sow a lot of animals, they seem happy. Recommend to visit greenhouse with butterflies. Very beautiful! Also, buy tickets in advance, because it’s definitely cheaper and faster. Ticket costs 37$, but only it’s possible to buy for 30$ (for weekdays)

Kateryna Novikova — Google review

Unfortunately many exhibits and buildings are closed due to Avian flu precautions. This was a true lazy Sunday. Not many animals moving around. Through no fault of the zoo itself, this was a lackluster experience. Any area with birds were closed. Gorilla and Otter pavilions closed. It's been years since I had been to this zoo and if seemed that many animals were gone and it was not as great as I remembered. This zoo used to rival Toronto zoo for the overall experience. It has Fallen backwards in recent years.

Best place to spend a day inside the city. I liked watching penguins , Alpaca lions and many more animals the most. It was like you are in a entirely different world. Watching bear accumulating leaves for making himself warm was an encouraging experience. Lions were all sleeping but nice. Some Sparrows 😍actually it was my awesome trip with my family ❤️parking lot also wider.

Those who are visiting for the very first time please be aware that this is going to hurt your legs a lot..😃 The area is large and you have to walk around especially if you have kids with you please take stroller with you (You gonna need it) If you have old age company plz take accessibility cart so they can enjoy too!!Now once you are in the zoo you will enjoy every minute here. Zoo keepers are there to help you with the path to follow but still having a map with you is a must. Enjoy nature and the animals. Keep an umbrella to protect against the sun ☀️.. Overall my experience was amazing. I was not even able to complete the first section of Africa Safari. I will visit again.

What a amazing way to spend a day!! 😍 This place is a must visit for any and everyone. The zoo was beautiful with lots of animals. The Dorothy garden was especially very beautiful. Make sure you have an entire day to spend here as the zoo is pretty big with lots of walking. We went there at 9am in the morning on Heritage day and it was just beginning to get crowded, so we were able to view a lot the animals relatively without much crowds. But by the time it was mid day there were a lot more people there, so make sure you plan accordingly.Overall this was an amazing experience and I am waiting to go back here once again.

One of the best places to visit in the city, and easily one of the premier zoos in North America ( I would know, I have visited more than 50 of them.)Lots of parking, great membership value, excellent food/dining options, huge repeatability factor with a different and new experience each time. There are parts that are certainly under utilized and feeling aged/run down (namely as of Nov 2023 the Asia section), and the dinosaur area seems like a weird space filler that could be better served with real animals, but other regions are stellar. The 2 big Africa Houses are simply fantastic, as is the penguin house, and the brilliant Wild Canada section. At the time of writing this review, there will even be polar bears in just two weeks. In short, this zoo is great all year around, for all ages, and I’d highly recommend visiting

Steven Barks — Google review

So it's a good zoo. It's got many animals that all look well cared for. They look like they really try their best with them and that to me is paramount when visiting a zoo or Aquarium. I downgraded the rating because it's really expensive in my opinion. Although much of the exhibit isn't running or viewable at this time of year. It makes sense why it's not operating as it's winter and cold. It happened to be warm when we went. We spent 4 hours there and still didn't get through everything though. It is a large zoo. You can save a couple dollars if you buy online and in advance.

Julie Mezo — Google review

I love what they have done to the zoo, expanding the outdoor wild animal area with a beautiful large area for the polar bears, and a beautiful large indoor and out for the different penguins. There is a separate light show after 5 pm this time of year for Christmas that looked like it would have been beautiful to see if I had more time.I definitely would purchase a year pass if I lived here. All construction is completed and the garden areas are now just two instead of the 4 or 5 areas they used to have.

I had the pleasure of visiting this zoo after attending a conference held there, and it was truly an enriching experience. It's an ideal weekend destination in Calgary and a must-see for visitors. The tropical garden, flamingos, and Mr. Hippo were personal highlights for me. Depending on the season, they offer various events, and you can even book a restaurant for added convenience.

My experience at the Calgary Zoo was nothing short of fantastic. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a family looking for a fun day out, or simply curious about the world's diverse wildlife, the Calgary Zoo offers something for everyone. I highly recommend adding it to your list of must-visit attractions in Calgary.

Balwinder Saini — Google review

This is one of the best zoos I have been to. All of the animals looked very healthy and had outstanding enclosures. Most of the animals were in their regular enclosures, even in March. The land of lemurs was unfortunately closed due to the cold weather. The indoor portions of the zoo were very cool (or should I say hot) and immersed us in the natural environment of the animals. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I will definitely be visiting again.

Cameron M — Google review

My partner and I visited to see the Polar Bears and also enjoy the Christmas lights. It was as calm as usual though more exciting this time around with new animals. I loved the Mountain Goat (they sure looked stubborn as hell)😊Unfortunately there wasn't anything much to see in the Asian axis and I wonder what the space is actually for.Overall, it's great for anyone seeking to refresh by walking and learning a bit more about the wonderful creatures we have around us.

Michelle Michael-Beze (Mx.Beze) — Google review

My love for animals takes me to popular zoo visits very often 🤩 Honestly, not a huge supporter of caging the wildlife but they are good source of inspiration, information and entertainment for all ages. Canada’s second largest animal zoo was quite enjoyable! Despite the cold late December visit, zoo attracted 8k visitors which is a popular summer number! My favorites were penguins, chimpanzees, polar bear, tiger and Hippo 😍 the zoo has more than 200 species and they are very well kept.Didn’t realize how I spent the whole day visiting variety of animals, aviaries and butterfly sanctuary. Grabbed a quick snack at the zoo cafeteria (their revenue supports the zoo animals 🙏) and strolled through whole zoo in Christmas lights and decorations for another couple hours! Mesmerized by lightning and music, didn’t feel an inch of cold! Could also plan for a bubble/glass gazebo dinner in advance for a romantic dinner ✨A Must to do list in Calgary and earn your share of memories ☺️👍

We got a lot of snow today in Calgary and the zoo was a good choice for entertainment. We read it is the second largest zoo in Canada. We went to see the polar bears and we were not disappointed. What majestic creatures. A nicely laid out zoo with clear signage in the zoo itself. We got a membership each and have been back twice, and still haven't seen the whole zoo. The membership is a great value and the zoo itself is excellent.

Had a great time at the Calgary Zoo with my girlfriend! The variety of exhibits ensures there's something for everyone, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the diverse wildlife. My girlfriend loved the hippos, and personally, I was charmed by the adorable red pandas. We easily spent two and a half hours immersed in the fascinating displays. Looking forward to our next visit; the Calgary Zoo is definitely worth returning to for a fun and educational experience! I definitely recommend buying tickets online in advance as you can save some money on the price of admission.

Rodeo

Events

The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo that features cowboy-style entertainment and exhibits. It is a popular event with over a million people attending each year.

We went to the Stampede last summer (2021) and we had an Amazing time! I'll start with the Fireworks...the amazing Fireworks, just, when we thought the fireworks were over...they would start again :) Definitely the most wonderful fireworks display I'd ever seen. The show itself was very organized, even, with such a large area, we never really felt lost because of the abundance of information available. Well done Stampede organizers.

Lenny Vineham — Google review

Having lived out here for 12 years I’ve only been to Stampede twice, with last week on Friday parade day being one of those. After two long years of the pandemic, it was nice to feel the energy and the excitement, and the rhythm of the music at the stampede grounds. It can get overly crowded for sure and unfortunately there’s always the ones that don’t know how to behave properly, but mostly overall people were having a good time. That’s what it should be about. I have to leave one star off because I don’t agree with the use of animals in entertainment, and inevitably there are always animals that get killed at this event which is an aspect I detest.

Darryl S — Google review

Such a fun event! They have everything you can think of when it comes to a rodeo and a carnival! Definitely a great way to get your steps in and have some fun fair food too!

Kelly Deamaral — Google review

So much fun for people of all ages! The rides are great fun. Food is delicious, and a huge variety. You could spend so much time here. Nashville North was great for dancing with friends! Musical acts are pretty popular as well. Saw Sheryl Crow a few years back for free. Such an amazing memory! Hoping to make it back here again in the future.

AshTravels — Google review

We didn't attend any of the main shows but we explored the other attractions and the food. It was loads of fun! After two years of pandemic isolation, it was really nice to be in this festive atmosphere surrounded by people enjoying themselves. One of the main highlights was the Elbow River Camp of the Indigenous people of the region. It was absolutely fantastic! We attended a dance performance there and at the same time learned more about their culture, traditions, and ceremonies. We also ate bannock with jam, which is a heavy but tasty snack. Definitely going to come back again next year!

L E — Google review

Very nice, this was my first rodeo, it will definitely not be my last. I had a really good time in spite of people asking to be let out- back in- let out- back in-.... If you know you are going to have to keep moving you should get an outside seat. Smh

Cat Davis — Google review

One must go to this stampede at least once if not every time. My favourite were the motorcycle stunts featured on a particular evening that I could not shoot but it was thrilling. Display by the Canadian army is also my favourite. There is something for everyone. Food , rides, children rides, face painting, betting, gambling, clubbing , alcohol, performing arts, live music and the high list spectacular fireworks. It’s very very busy during Calgary stampede but the joy is sometimes in the crowd n rush. Still the management of such a massive scale event is great. Everything flows smoothly. Buy tickets at the gate or online and you are zoomed into the GM huge grounds . Oh I forgot to mention the horse show. I missed it but I was happy just to see the stables. Must go place

2023 Calgary Stampede, first impressions is that the show has a lot going on and a lot of people attending. You just got to find your fun among it all. I would recommend the evening show on the first day.

Melanie Kets — Google review

Took in the 2023 Rodeo finals from the infield. It was an awesome show of dedication. The crowd was invested and the competition was fierce.Near perfect performances created champions that the crowd roared for.The midway is always a gong show. Crazy numbers of people. All the lineups you could ever want to wait in. And the food, you'll be glad you tried it but wish you didn't.The livestock and the shows and everything that stampede brings to Calgary is world class. And the co*ke stage is always a must.Took in Mother Mother this year and it was just an awesome show.Plenty of people hate on the Stampede because it makes the city a little crazy with traffic, people and events, but it's really truly something to experience.

Andrew Riley Mott (Nokkelen) — Google review

The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth and rightly so lives up to its expectations each & every year we visit this place! One cannot get enough of the place in a day. Wish it would last more than 10 days in a year!On average 1.0M people visit the event each year from as far as Far East, Middle East, Europe and United States and from other parts of our great country Canada 🇨🇦

Dilawer Khan — Google review

Rodeo was alot of fun! Going as a family you need 2 days at the stampede to really enjoy everything the park has to offer. ( rides, agriculture arena, dog show and entertainment, food, rodeo, fireworks, evening shows)We had a great time and will be back next year!** Buy the day pass not stamps!! or rides will cost you a fortune.

Clori S — Google review

Five stars for the rodeo! Absolutely fantastic! The rest....the kids entertainment is crammed in a little corner. So many children and parents waiting to see Paw Patrol and they have the tiniest little stage and seating area. They can't join in or even see half the time. Waited 1.5 hours to watch a 20 minute show because last year our son was at the back of a huge crowd and could not see a thing.Doesn't really feel like a celebration of western culture, just a 10 day fancy dress party aimed at people that will spend a ton of money on alcohol. Not really family friendly at all (except for kids day (morning) which is really good).I will state again though that the rodeo is fab! Wish we didn't have to go through the rowdy, drunken crowds to get out of the stampede grounds though and back to our vehicle.

After a 17 year gap, we decided to check out the Calgary Stampede - we always enjoy watching coverage on TV but it’s fun to walk the midway and grounds and see live shows. The daily schedule helped us to plan the day and we lucked out by getting in free before 11:00am - not sure why but 🤠. We enjoyed: the RCMP Musical Ride - a proud Canadian tradition and celebration of 150 years of service; the illusionist, Stampede Show Riders, River Camp village with Indigenous dancers, market place displays, animal displays, show band, and Canine Stars. Searching for gluten free options was a bit of a chore but we found some poutine, dole whip and caramel apples. 😋see pictures. We ended our day with a T&S concert at the Coca Cola stage which is an amazing new-and-improved outdoor stage venue. We are 50+ so didn’t partake in rides or much after 10:30 but after 12 hours we had a full day!

I just did a quick drive by to check out the outside after doing the Calgary Tower tour. I came in August so missed the Big Rodeo in July. I might have to come back in July one year to check it out.

One and only of its kind in entire North America if I am not wrong. You got food, rides, cultural activities, music and what not. Remember it is for 10 days only so make sure you visit it at least once since it is worth it.I bought a ticket online and it was 90 bucks worth.

Dhruv Gupta — Google review

We were glad we went, and a two day visit was enough! One giant theme park, which is great for the kids, and also so many food and drinks vendors. It seems to be about, sell, sell, sell, rather than about conservation, compassion, and preservation of tradition. However, saying all of that, it is the biggest outdoor show we've ever been to...

Observation Decks & Towers

A free standing viewing tower in Calgary, Alberta with panoramic views of the city below and beyond. The tower is also home to a revolving restaurant that enables tourists to enjoy the thrilling sensation of being 191 meters above the city.

The Calgary Tower is a big structure. It was also an incredible experience to be on the top floor of this structure. From the top floor, we have a 360-degree view of the city. We can also see the nearest towering skyscraper. From the gallery, this is such a lovely scene. I would advise others to go see this tower.

Mihir Prajapati — Google review

Must see place when you are in Calgary. Easy to find it in the center, no need to buy tickets in advance - you can make it here (payment with cash or card). Going up by the elevator and then - amazing picturesque view to the entire city!We went there in the evening close to sunset, so we were able to make amazing photos with the sunset from different sides.Glass floor may seem to be kinda tension from the beginning but after all - isn’t it exciting to see the city under your feet? 😃There is short movie about the construction of the tower and Alberta in general. Take time to watch it - useful information. There is restaurant here but it needs reservation (often crowded). I believe restaurant visitors can go to the tower for free - there is separate entrance for them. There is souvenir shop at the ground floor. Somehow high prices but worth looking.Take a look at the walls as well - there is information about different towers in the world.

We enjoyed our lunch at Sky 360, which is a rotating restaurant. While we enjoyed great food, we were amused by the view of the surroundings at the height of about 200 meters. As the view is panoramic, we did not go to the observation deck and avoid paying $21 admission fees. If you really want to go, you will save 55% of admission charges if you spent $20 or more in Sky 360.

Nice experience. It doesn't take too long to see it and you can go in with almost no wait. The views are great and there's a short video on the construction and modifications that give a little history to the tower. All and all pretty cool spot for photos, not very many info things provided up there would be nice to learn or see more about the city we are overlooking.

I didn't go to the restaurant; however, I went to the top to visit the Observation Deck. It's such an amazing view the one you get from there. Lots of people you will see there as well.I didn't took me long to get to the top of the tower. Maybe because I didn't go on busy days.Staff is very attentive and kind like most Canadians ;)

Very beautiful place, enjoyable & so lovely.Reservations are not recommended.. just visit and buy own tickets. Because after purchasing online you might not be receiving confirmation message due to server detect lead some hassle on checking nonetheless. So better just go and buy your tickets accordingly. You can take some drinks/ snacks with you in case the skydeck restaurant is closed.A particularly sophisticated trip to this birds eye view!

I have been to many observation towers around the world (Japan, Toronto, Malaysia, South Korea, etc.) I gave the Calgary Tower a try.A ticket costs $22.I think about 45 minutes is all you need on the observation deck. They have a water fountain on the observation deck too.The area has a brief video and some facts shown around the room.It is also the place where you can catch a bus to and from the airport which makes a day trip super convenient. The Calgary Tower reminds me of the same quality as KL Tower in Malaysia. They could do more with it.

This is a must see spot in Calgary. It has fantastic views of the city. There are signs that post to important landmarks in the city that can guide your experience in Calgary. There is a short film that you can watch that gives the history of the tower. The tickets are $21 and it is absolutely worth it for the view alone.

The Calgary Tower is one of the most iconic and historic buildings of downtown Calgary. It has a revolving restaurant and an an observation deck on top. We did not try the restaurant as reservation is required. The views are expansive and amazing! Walking over the glass floor was also thrilling! All the staff members were also friendly and always ready to help you out with taking your photos. I gave it four stars because the tickets were a bit pricey.

On my first visit to Calgary, I visited this tower and I loved the view. With a self guided tour, I learnt a lot about the city. I will recommend going during Spring or Fall as there were no lines and it was not crowded. I visited on a weekday in October and I had fun. Please get your tickets online to save time. The lights come on at night so while you take a stroll downtown, the backdrop of the tower is beautiful.

The tower is definitely a worth while experience. I have gone up three times and it was fun, though there is not a lot to it. If you don't mind heights, you can stand on the glass floor or walk around the building and enjoy the incredible 360° views.

I love visiting observation decks of towers/skyscrapers, so Calgary Tower was on my must-visit list during my recent half-day stopover in the city. Although it is dwarfed by recent skyscrapers, it is still an iconic structure! I have to give a big kudos to the staff member working at the elevator foyer on the ground floor, welcoming and saying goodbye to visitors (Feb 25, afternoon) - she was so enthusiastic for what seemed like a repetitive job!The observation deck itself was clean, well-maintained, and seemed to be recently renovated. I visited on a clear day and the view was quite nice. There is a glass floor, clear panels describing the landmarks that you could see out of the windows, interesting information around the inner walls, and a short film about the tower's construction/history. There is a water fountain and seating to just take in the view. However, the stairs to the second floor are blocked. Hope they can find another use for that space.I thought it was interesting that the tower was built for the purpose of commemorating Canada's centennial year of 1967 (although it was completed in 1968), quite a few years before CN Tower was built. I wonder if the tower would have been designed to be much taller had it been the reverse order. We'll never know!

The Calgary Tower is an iconic landmark in the heart of the city that offers an unforgettable experience with its panoramic views of Calgary and the surrounding Rocky Mountains. Located in downtown Calgary, the tower features a revolving restaurant, observation deck, and glass floor that provides a thrilling view of the city below.Entering the tower, visitors are quickly ushered to the high-speed elevator that takes them up to the observation deck in a matter of seconds. The view from the top is awe-inspiring, with a 360-degree view that encompasses the entire city and its stunning skyline. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a clear and unobstructed view of Calgary's sprawling landscape, including major landmarks such as the famous Canadian Rockies.Visitors can enjoy a full 60-minute rotation of the restaurant, which is a great way to take in both the view and the fine dining experience. The food here is top-notch, and the service is excellent, making it one of the most sought-after dining experiences in the city. The glass floor on the observation deck at the Calgary Tower is a unique and thrilling attraction that challenges visitors to face their fear of heights. Walking on the glass floor is an exciting experience that provides a bird's-eye view of the streets, crowds, and bustling city below. Though a bit scary at first, it is a true test of bravery, and the adrenaline rush is well worth the thrilling experience.Overall, the Calgary Tower is a highlight of the city and a must-visit attraction for anyone exploring Calgary. With its breathtaking views, exciting glass floor, and top-notch dining, it's a must-see for both visitors and locals alike. Its a great place to spend a few hours and is suitable for visitors of all ages!

Life Café — Google review

My son and i had a great time here. The glass floor is one of the best parts of the whole thing. I would definitely recommend eating in Sky 360 as well. The restaurant slowly turns while you eat. One revolution per hour. Such amazing views from all angles.

I visited the Calgary Tower and it was an exceptional experience! It made me honestly feel like going on all the towers across the world. All other towers around the world were beautiful displayed with their location, build cost, etc. I loved the experience completely and would highly recommend. The wait time was super short, and the attendants were also nice and professional!

It's definitely worth seeing (one of the attractions I would add to the must-do list if visiting Calgary). Very breathtaking views, glass floor (part of it, but still scary), toilet upstairs as well (comfortable when you are with a stroller). Byw, there are no toilets downstairs in the building. We wanted to visit a restaurant as well (it is possible to do in Vancouver's tower upstairs), but without reservation, it was impossible even if it was 1 or 2 p.m. hightly recommended.

Some staff were very friendly, others very flat affect.Once your at the top, the views were beautiful. It was fun standing on the glass floor. They had small plaques where they pointed out what buildings we were looking at which was informative.Besides looking outside, there was nothing else to do.I found it a bit pricey.

Visiting the Calgary Tower was a highlight of our trip! The view from the top is truly spectacular, offering a stunning panorama of the city and distant mountains. There's plenty of interesting information available about the sights you're seeing, which adds a nice educational touch to the visit. While our stop was quite brief, it was very reminiscent of the experience at the CN Tower. Great for a quick visit if you're looking to take in some breathtaking views and learn a bit about Calgary's skyline.

Would recommend to anyone who has some spare time when in Calgary. Beautiful views of the city, railway and mountains with 360 degree views. It is quite expensive at $23 for an adult though!

Sam Carroll — Google review

Fun way to see the city. Quick elevator ride up. Cool glass floor experience (which made me feel a little dizzy at first). Beautiful views of the city. It was a cloudy, rainy day when we visited, I can only imagine how beautiful it would have been with a sunny day!

ANDREA R — Google review

Visited the observation deck and had a great time. Went during the sunset, and the views were spectacular. Well worth the $22 price point to check out at least once!

Kareena — Google review

Great experience and well worth the fee. You get to truly see all the city and get a different perspective.Take the time to read the signage and download the app, it’s interesting to see all the knooks and spaces you miss zooming through traffic. We found a bunch of places not on our radar to explore in Calgary from our visit here

Beth Quirie — Google review

Not that tall compared to many other buildings even in the area, while only slightly taller than the space needle and a third of the height of the CN Tower. It is a nice place to go though as it has very nice views, and a very reasonable price. It's worth stopping at.

Princes Island Park is a public park located in downtown Calgary, Alberta. The park features an amphitheatre and hiking trails, as well as stalls at Eau Claire Market. The park is particularly popular during the summer months, and hosts events such as Canada Day and the Calgary Folk Festival.

It is a very beautiful park, it is a huge park that is centrally located. You can see the big buildings at the background and you can see this beautiful park on the forefront. You have lovely walking paths here, you'll also find a lot of geese here. It is so green in spring with colorful flowers. This is definitely a place you should consider visiting, it is very peaceful to be in here.

Prince's Island reminds me a lot of Vancouver. It's a nice little getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is in an ideal location, right on the river and a few minutes from the downtown core. The park is considerably huge with large deciduous trees, lush gardens and a cafe on the island. With the changing of the season, the colourful leaves add a whole new beauty to it.

Princess Park is a beautiful and blissful place to spend an afternoon strolling, go for a morning run, enjoy some buskers, or traverse through to get to the restaurants and bars on the other side of the river. It has many events hosted throughout the spring and summer and has a huge stage for live music. The River Cafe is most certainly fine dining and the extra novelty of walking to the establishment creates a lasting memory fit for any special occasion. If you are looking for a fun spot to grab a beer and some fun food, be sure to hit the Garage right next to the park!

Douglas Greff — Google review

Another great place to skate/cycle or just walk and take in the nature and beauty of the city. Been ruined lately from all the protesters in the area. But if you can ignore those losers than it’s still enjoyable.

Kevin W — Google review

This is a beautiful park with trails going both sides of the river, with nice little spots to hang at. There's a food truck here aswel. Family friendly, but high traffic of bicycles, roller skating, joggers and scooters along the trail. Absolutely amazing park in the summer ☀️.

Prince Edward's park is nestled in a serene neighborhood of Calgary, and it offers a peaceful and picturesque escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The park features well-maintained walking paths that wind through lush greenery and beautiful gardens, perfect for leisurely strolls or picnics. The playground area is well-designed and provides a safe and enjoyable space for children to play. The park also boasts ample open spaces, making it ideal for outdoor activities like frisbee, soccer, or simply relaxing on a sunny day. With its tranquil atmosphere and scenic surroundings, Prince Edward Park is a delightful oasis for nature lovers and families alike.

Princess Island Park in Calgary is a sanctuary of creativity, where the river's melody harmonizes with nature's canvas, inviting artists to paint dreams under the open sky, among lush greenery and flowing waters..

Prince's Island Park is a beautiful oasis in downtown Calgary. When you're here, it no longer feels like you're in the hustle and bustle of downtown. There's so much greenery and old trees surrounding the bow river. There's plenty of space to sit and have a picnic. Paths interwind and flow through the park, inviting you to walk, bike, or take a scooter on them. And many people do as the paths we took were quite busy. And if you want a nice meal, River Café situated in the middle of the park serves some delectable dishes. I genuinely feel lucky to live in this city.

Victor Law — Google review

A nice park for family going on weekend and workers spending their day off. Great grass land surrounding playgrounds. The park is on the bow river, connected with bridges, the most famous and iconic one is Peace Bridge. The park was built on land, and donated in 1947 to the city by the Prince family. Prince Island park is the Central Park in New York. Amazing place to visit if you are tourist.

We are visiting our friends in Calgary and decided to come here for an evening stroll and we were not disappointed. The river walk is absolutely stunning with fast flowing water just looking incredible on a sunny day. You will see a lot of people on the sidewalk and in the park along with their furry friends. All in all, great experience. Will return here in future.

Very scenic, beautiful Island and Park.Take a stroll around the various pathways, enjoy taking a breather on benches to take advantage of look-out spots. I spotted Squirrels, Robins, Ducks and other various birds. The Café was lovely too. Enjoy!

Definitely the most beautiful park in Calgary! I was stunned with the lush greenery and golden hues of the early autumn. I’ve been here only month but that’s my 5th stroll here. I love the little squirrels here there are plenty of them everywhere.

Prince's Island is a very pretty park in the center of Calgary. It owes its name to one Peter Prince, originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, who started the Eau Claire & Bow River Lumber Company in 1886. The island was formed in the river when Prince dug a channel (now the arm of the river on the south side of the island) to harness the water power for his lumber mill.It is a very pretty place to visit, there is a single building on the island, the River Cafe. There are three pedestrian bridges and causeway access to the island, only utility vehicles are allowed.

Thibault Dambrine — Google review

Nice park, not far from downtown Calgary if you're on foot. It was cold and windy when we went there, but the parked seemed nice nonetheless. We saw many squirrels and there are beautiful flowers everywhere. Also a good spot to take some pictures of Bow River, but in a sunny day it must be much nicer.

André Marques — Google review

Prince’s Island is situated North Calgary. It is a sweet little park where you can go for a stroll, relax and enjoy the scenery in a quiet environment. Squirrel and birds will be your companion during your journey, since they are all around the park. There are lots of bridge to access the island and places to sit as well.

Kim Ng — Google review

Calgary has plenty of beautiful parks all over the city, and Prince's Island Park is, definitely, one of the most popular and visited parks in downtown that has picturesque downtown, river, and waterfront views. In summer, the park is thronged by a variety of people of all the ages and interests. cyclists, walkers by themselves or with their furry friends and joggers are seen on the trails on either side of the river and on the over bridge. There are lots of trees and lush green grounds with benches to enjoy the nature and the river. There is a children playground with various equipment to keep them active and occupied in the natural surroundings. Also, a cafeteria and washrooms are on the park to cater to the needs of visitors. The amazing park has lots to offer to every kind of people, for free. Walking along the river filled me and my wife with enormous exhilaration.

Bharat Shah — Google review

You'd probably have more fun near the Peace Bridge, but this park was well kept and not super busy. Peasant to tour and had some good scenery. Bridge is bouncy.

eryn arsenault — Google review

I visited this park during July end. The park is very beautiful and clean. The neighborhood is lovely. The park is on the banks of Bow River. Water is dark blue and looks very scenic. However, parking was limited. We went to the peace bridge, and even though it was under construction, the bridge looked beautiful.

What a great idea! Having a family run business that drives the buyers to the mall so that you don't have to stand there and hawk yiur items.Makes way more sense than a typical Farmer's Market that requires you to stand at your booth the whole time without a promise of selling your wares. There is plenty of Parking and impartial staff that is eager to get your items sold. Great concept!I found the owner to be very transparent and clear. I would not hesitate to recommend renting a booth here to sell items at all!It is very easy to find.

John William Wade — Google review

Absolutely on of my favorite places to visit when I'm in Airdrie. Great people managing this place and definitely you won't leave without finding something.

Sean 'DJ' Vaditron — Google review

Fantastic store if you have some money to spend on collectables. You can find about anything here.Would give 5* but I'm knocking a couple stars off for the staff member that was watching us, pretty sure she though we were stealing because we don't look the the usual clientele. If you have a worry about theft, a security guard should be in place.

Michael Gray — Google review

So many neat things in this store! I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and saw so many antique items. I have posted a few photos that I took while walking around. Definitely somewhere you should stop in to look around if you're in Airdrie. I heard they also buy antique items.

Joni — Google review

Absolutely wonderful walk back in time. Almost impossible to leave without something!

Matthew Pellerin — Google review

Such a phenomenal store! They have so much antiques all seemingly sold at a reasonable price. From comic books to old gas pumps. Old postcards to old pick axes.It felt like I was walking through a museum, but could buy anything I liked. If you’re in or around Airdrie, this place is definitely worth the visit!

Adam Darsh — Google review

We never pass through Airdrie without stopping at Where on Earth. So many unique treasures and inventory is always changing. Rarely do we leave empty handed. They have something for everything. Being a record collector they have a number of booths with a good selection and prices. I always find a few to add to my collection. The place is clean bright and well organized, already looking forward to the next time we stop there.Tims 2cents

Tim Kuss — Google review

A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Very well organized booths, everything is fairly easy to see, things are clearly labeled. Lots of old neat things to look at. Also some very odd things to have a laugh at and depending on how old you are you might be a bit surprised in what is considered antique.

Kala Walton — Google review

Great little place to stop by in. Lots of things to see but well kept and organized. There’s something for everyone, staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our time and will likely stop by in the future.HOWEVER; if you are buying anything, make sure to research or are fully familiar before buying anything g as there are no returns or exchanges. I purchased a grenade marked as a “dummy grenade” but turns out its a fake cast iron worth significantly less. Be cautious, as I quite disappointed.

August Kluge — Google review

A real hidden gem! It's like going to an awesome little museum, where everything is for sale!Incredible selection, with very reasonable pricing.

Jason Moore — Google review

This is the best antiques mall I’ve ever been to. I almost never leave without something new. The main reason this place is so great is that the antiques are reasonably priced. (How often do you go to an antique store and feel like the prices are grossly overinflated?!). Expect to spend 90-120 mins there if you want to take your time and see everything.A bit depressing though to realize the piggy bank from my childhood qualifies as an antique now … oh hmmm I guess that was almost 50 years ago …

Helen Banks — Google review

So many cool things here. We had a lot of fun and made some great finds for kids and grown ups alike to enjoy. Books, toys, comics, incredible collectibles and decorative items. And much more. Very interesting place. We left happy and with some great new vintage books, toys, and comics.

KayChanel — Google review

Something me and my family love to do is go to antique malls, we came across this one on our family road trip.Immediately as soon as we walked into the store we were followed around by an old lady , on our tails constantly over our shoulder making us feel like they were suspicious of us stealing things. We touched a few things gently or picked them up for a second to be told that we could put that back unless we planned to pay for it, told us that if we were to break anything that it would get messy in there.. and finally she said "okay times up... unless you plan on buying anything" I didn't know we needed a time limit or to be supervised in a store like toddlers. Keep in mind the youngest in our family is 10 and the oldest is 38.This was the first and last time our family will visit this location so long as "KAREN" is supervising.

Jill Erickson — Google review

Great place to visit, every nook and cranny is packed with vintage goodness. There's something for everyone here, also very helpful and friendly staff.

I like having enough space to move, so this mall was nicely laid out. Very large variety of products, clean and orderly. The atmosphere was as nice as I have ever seen. Prices were on par with other places we went to.
